We had a HORRIBLE experience with this dress shop. My mom purchased her dress for my wedding here. At first, things seemed fine, but we should have known something was up when every salesperson told us something different. The first time we went, they told my mom there was no way they could order a dress on time (several months ahead) and that she would have to buy a sample. When we went back, the other salesperson told us that no they could probably order one and the other person should have checked. When we found a dress, they said it would take over a month to come in, so we had to order it that day in the store. It ended up coming in a few weeks. All of that stress for nothing. The dress my mom found and loved is very detailed. They assured us that they would be able to alter it well and even went as far as to show us how they would handle the detail work (this will be important later). The dress has fabric petals all starting at the middle and increasing as they go towards the bottom of the dress. They insisted that anything removed would be placed back in the pattern just as it was removed and said they has a seamstress who specialized in that kind of work. We trusted that the people we were ordering an $800 dress from would know how to alter it. They measured my mom and pressured her to order the larger size when she was apparently between two sizes. When the dress arrived, it was at least 2 sizes too big. This led to much more extensive alterations than originally planned, which of course costs a lot of money. When she went back to try on the dress, the bottom (most detailed and unique part of the dress) was completely f*d up. It was truly horrible. The seamstress did no detail work. She cut off the bottom, rolled it under, and hemmed it like it was a pair of school uniform pants. The dress was ruined and didn't even look close to the same as the sample. The mistakes were obvious and I am not sure how the seamstress would ever think that was acceptable to give to a paying client. They insisted they would fix it for us and at this point it was too late to go anywhere else. They managed to make it look better, but the results are nowhere near acceptable for work on a designer dress. They had the nerve to ask us for additional money because of the fixes they made to the dress that THEY SCREWED UP. They also gave us a different shawl than the one that we were originally told came with the dress and tried to claim it never came with one. I guess they forgot the internet exists and we could easily look up the designer and see what it was supposed to come with, and proceeded to act shocked when we showed them despite the fact that my mom originally tried it on in the store. They mysteriously lost the shawl she tried on with the sample dress. They were also supposed to adjust the top to lay flat on her chest (the dress has boning that has to be properly altered). When she picked it up and asked why that was not also fixed, they said she should get double sided tape. Do they remember this is an $800 dress??? It's not $200 from Azazie. Professional alterations should make tape unnecessary. I showed the pictures of the original, messed up alterations to friends and other seamstresses (including the amazing one who did my wedding gown) who were horrified. DO NOT trust this shop. They were also not accommodating and never admitted that they were the ones who messed up. They refused to give us any money back for their mistakes. If you buy a dress here, get alterations elsewhere. I am so beyond grateful I got my wedding dress from a different...
Read moreI had a nightmare experience with this shop. 48 days out from my wedding I had to abandon my old dress, switch shops and find a new dress. To me it’s clear that some of their suppliers are poor quality. In my case, the dress was from a “private designer”. They have beautiful dresses at an affordable price point, but clearly there is a there is a lack of quality control with some of their suppliers. 7 months ago, my dress came in with a ton of issues but the manager didn’t recommend that I exchange the dress as she stated “if we exchange it, the new one could have different problems”?? Why don’t they trust their suppliers to give them a good product? I kept the dress based on the manager’s recommendation and because the seamstress seemed confident she could fix the various issues with the dress. After over $700 of alterations my dress was looking worse! I finally asked for the sample dress as it was a better fit on me from the get go and some of the errors on my dress weren’t fixable (hem too short, straps taken in too much and didn’t leave enough fabric to let them out). They agreed the sample dress was a better fit and to give me that dress as a last minute replacement, but then the owner, Trish, tried to charge me for more alterations on the sample dress! She also wanted to charge full price for the used stretched out sample dress with stains, missing buttons and pulls, which clearly shouldn’t be the same price as a brand new dress. She felt getting the dress dry cleaned was equivalent to a new dress and said it wouldn’t be possible to discount the sample dress whatsoever. What was more upsetting was that she showed zero empathy for my situation. She was condescending when speaking with us and at one point said “I mean… I can’t give you a free dress…” which we never asked for?? We did ask if she could cover the cost of the veil, which I thought was the least she could do being that my dress was ruined and she was forcing me to pay full price for the sample. That was also out of the question, only offering a 10% discount on the veil. Oddly enough she offered a full refund, which I thought was interesting being that she couldn’t offer any discount on the dress. Personally I believe she thought we would never take her up on it so close to the wedding but just offered it to sound accommodating. Well 48 days out from my wedding we did take her up on the refund and I took my money elsewhere. I am now getting a brand new dress from a different shop. They were horrified when I showed them pictures of the botched dress and the alterations nightmare. If you purchase a dress here, do NOT get alterations here. If your dress comes in from the supplier and is not right, send it back or go elsewhere at that time. I wish I did that 7+ months ago when my first dress came in.
Also, my sister got her dress here a few years ago and got all the way home after her final alterations were done only to find they gave her someone else’s dress!! They didn’t offer to send someone out to swap it. So my sister had to trek back to their shop to swap it. Mistakes happen, I know that. But management is not there for you when something goes wrong, it is on you to...
Read moreSo when life happens, Country Bride and Gents isn’t there for you. My daughter purchased a bridal gown at $1650 (plus 50.00 shipping plus tax and tip) in mid March. The wedding was canceled due to unfortunate circumstances. We called in May to cancel the making of the dress and/or get partial credit for the dress that we didn’t have in our possession. Yes the policy of County Bride and Gents is no refunds/no returns. Remember that. NO RETURNS OR REFUNDS!!
Andre, the manager was cold and uncaring. Never a mention of “sorry that the wedding was canceled” or sorry we are unable to refund your monies. Just “Lot of weddings are canceled every day” and the dress is made and being shipped. HOWEVER it won’t be here until the last week in July. I can’t believe that if the dress has been made that it will take 2 ½ months to ship.
Regardless of this, I called back on the day that Andre stated the dress would be in – July 27th. Guess what?? No dress. He said it would be in a “few days,” I asked that he call me when it comes in, repeating “so you will call me when the dress is in” and providing my phone number again.
I waited and waited and waited. Finally I decided to call on September 26th. Note that the wedding was supposed to be October 15th. Any bride to be would be out of her mind not knowing her dress wasn’t in. I was surprised to find not only was the dress in the shop but guess when it arrived….. JULY 27TH – the same day I spoke with Andre.
So let’s give Andre some lee way, maybe the dress data wasn’t up to date but there is NO reason that I did NOT get a call regarding the delivery of the dress. The employee that answered the phone repeated when it arrived when I asked and also was perplexed as to why I didn’t receive a call. So if I waited long enough, I believe October 15th (wedding date) would have come and gone without a call.
So maybe I’m writing this to appease my displeasure with Country Brides and Gents but I hope you make sure that this is the dress you want because you WILL own it regardless of your situation. County Bride and Gents doesn’t care about YOU they care about the money they get from YOU!!!
Living in the area all my life I like to use locally owned services. We could have chosen numerous other shops but didn’t. I guess that was our first mistake. Don’t...
