Two stars for the owner hovering around my family during our visit on Sunday, March 23rd and making my overall experience less pleasing.
My family and I came in because it was our first time visiting Havre de Grace. I've passed this area for decades when I finally decided to take the path less traveled. We already visited other establishments and thought a visit to an antique mall would be nostalgic and I would be able to show my children (6 and 11) what life was like before the internet. The moment my family and I walked in, George scrambles around as if it were all hands on deck. I noticed I was in his path of travel and instead he went around a different way. I apologized for my being in the way, but George ignored me. His disposition and disgruntled look on his face told me my family and I weren't welcomed there. I noticed his hovering when I was flipping through the maryland license plates bin on the floor. He blew me off when I apologized; it was halfway through the store that I told my family it was time to go. We left shortly thereafter.
It's a shame because I see the town making improvements with street construction that looks like it would be ready for the summer season; a season I thought I might want to come back and spend a nice weekend.
I know now my family and I need to stay in our lane. We won't be back to Havre de Grace because of our experience at Bahoukas Antique Mall. I may have visited the upstairs section, but George clearly didn't want us there.
I wish this town the best in growth and development. I hope owners like George can move past the days from which his relics and wares were collected.
Not all families have degenerates and my family knows how to mind...
Read moreIncredible store. Spent hours walking around and could've spent more time, but my son had a sore throat. He didn't sleep much the night before and was tired so he waited in the car. I think he would've loved this store though because they had a ton of old toys some of them were still in the packages. But he was never big on toys. He always liked his electronics and still does. Can't blame him. So anyway... we had a super fun time here. By 'we' I mean my girlfriend and I. She has a great eye and can find great stuff. Not as great as the stuff I find of course, but shes all right. I mean I am the one who found this store so you know. She's pretty lucky to have me. I don't drive or make a lot of money, but I can find super great stores like this that you definitely need to check out. Even if you're like an hour away. Go. Get in the car and go. There are a bunch in the neighborhood you need to...
Read moreHad a lot a racist jim-crow era antiques in a show-off display at the front of the store. Now, a lot of shops have racist antiques, I know that, but this shop displayed them in a way that seemed they were proud to have them and it was one of the FIRST things you see when you walk in. This really set the theme and mood of the store. And the workers were less than friendly to me (a black woman)... Didn't look at me when they were talking, acted uninterested and unhelpful as if they just wanted me to leave. I could definitely tell I was not welcomed or wanted. AVOID THIS SHOP!! There are a lot of other great antiques shops...
