A beautiful ambience to sit down and eat by the water. Requested a table for 2, the 2 young hostesses could not accommodate us on the inside because they had a party of 9 and a party of 13 coming later. However, 2 tables was available at this time. When I went to the restroom, 2 caucasian guest came in asking for a table, they had no problem accommodating them right away. Also by the time we had left, the 2 tables was still available on the inside. The hostess bypass several available tables on the outside and excorted us to a table at the end, that was so close to the water, if a high tide would have came, we would have been soaked. It would have been nice to have eaten inside of the resturant as it was a bit chilly for me sitting outside. However, my hubby loved the outside. Our waiter was good. Boats can dock at Tidewater Grille to enjoy a good meal. Food was good, a bit pricey. The Bacon Crab Club was $16 and comes with chips $2 up charge to add fries. My hubby ordered the Ham Dinner @ $20, came with 4 slices of ham with grilled pineapple slices, mashed potatoes and a vegetable melody. The temperature of the food could have been hotter. It was tasty but a small crabcake. Can't remember if it was Strawberry or a Raspberry Bread Pudding, however, it was burnt and dry, it needed a glaze or a heated sauce to compliment to add flavor. For pet lovers, outdoors pet friendly restaurant also, which is weird eating and seeing a pet walked to do his or her business. This place is a bit pricey to have pets on the premises releasing themselves while you're eating your meal outdoors in such a small area..

I have to change this review to 1 star, from 3, after my husband and I both had upset stomaches after eating here. The original review is below, but I can't stop thinking about where that tray was and what else it came into contact with. Also, if they were careless about that were they equally careless about other health and safety issues. I added a picture of the tray on the floor. the server added additional items to the tray before it was picked up. I don't believe restaurants wash these bar trays between each use, so the germs from the floor were then transferred to the top of another tray, the top of the bar, the top of a table, and so on. Original review: The food was delicious, the view of the water lovely, the service in need of major improvement. If not for the service, I would give it 5 stars. We waited about 10 minutes, although it seemed longer, for anyone to come to our table to even offer us water. When the server finally came he did take our entire order. He then forgot to bring my husband's soup. He did comp him a cup later, but it's not the same. I also felt that he hadn't been well trained as he put a drink tray on the floor, and then placed several items he was busing from a nearby table on the tray. Also, my husband's first choice for his entree was sold out, this was the kitchen's fault for not informing the servers. There was also an unbused table on the patio the entire time we were there, and the place was just not busy enough to justify that not being cleaned up.

Was having a rough day and needed a bit of a change of scenery for the afternoon/evening. Drove from South Jersey to Maryland. Pulled over on the side of the road, looked up restaurants nearby, and Tidewater immediately peaked my interest. When I arrived I was not disappointed. Beautiful location right on the water. Was greeted and seated without any wait. And for fellow introverts like myself, my brief interactions with the waitress and waitstaff were great. Not a knock to them at all, they were extremely pleasant. Very attentive to anything I needed, just didn’t show up to my table every 5 seconds, which can sometimes be overwhelming. NOW…on to the reason I will most definitely be back….THE FOOD! Started with fried calamari and a winter mule to drink, both were perfect. Ordered blackened salmon with a Caesar salad for my main meal. Once again, the food was mouthwatering. I almost never order salmon out or eat it at all in general, but it had a nice smoky flavor and almost melted in my mouth. Can’t wait until my next trip back, they have Trivia night Wednesdays and really interested in checking out the live music on Friday & Saturday nights. Give them a visit, you won’t be disappointed.

A first visit here and it wasn’t a good one.. We were seated quickly which was probably the only positive thing I can say. Our sever was attentive at first, got us drinks. Then gave us time to read the menu, we ordered an appetizer for the meantime while we were figuring out our entree. Waiter said no problem. Appetizer was potato skins with seafood toppings, the potato skins were a little overdone but we powered through it. Then she NEVER came back. We waited and waited, finally another waiter stepped in, saying he can take our order. I said we already had a waiter but she disappeared, and he said he was taking over for her(shift ending?) I don’t know. There was no communication to us, like “hey i’m leaving soon, someone else will be taking over”. The gentleman was waiting on several other tables before coming to us. He took our order. (We had been there for over an hour at this point). He came back to let us know food was in but he could give us slice of cake since we waited so long said okay. Food finally came out. One of the orders was wrong, and my order was half cooked pasta. We’re hungry at this point, whatever we just want to eat and leave. When food came out waiter came back and said he would bring my partner a refill on his drink. Never did, we ate both of our meals (as much as I could eat of mine) and he still never once came back to check on us or refill the drink. We had to flag him down for a check (almost 2 hours being there at this point), I told him I thought about it and instead of cake I want to be refunded appetizer( I understand appetizer was not the main issue but we didn’t want dessert we were done- refunding an appetizer after being here almost 2 hours is more than fair if you ask me), he came back with check with appetizer off. Great, but the part I said about the order being incorrect? We were charged incorrectly for the item. Waiter said he doesn’t plate the food. Fine, but you are the representation of the front end of everything, just get it fixed. Goes to get it fixed, manager comes over, said oh I heard you waited long for an appetizer, I then explained. Then we explained the check issue. We just wanted to leave. Manager took care of the check issue. I don’t know what the issue is here, whether it was clear miscommunication, no communication between servers during change of shift, but either way our second server just left us to sit too. Food was not what everyone was raving about. There could be a bad experience with food but how you represent your business is the...

When I first walked onto the restaurant's property I was pleased to see that it was located on the water. The waitress was extremely pleasant and the food was okay, but the experience overall was disappointing. The food took a while to arrive. I ordered the Seafood Platter. The Salmon especially and shrimp tasted delicious, however, the loaded baked potato was hard and the brussel sprouts were shredded and salty. The waitress offered mixed vegetables instead, but they were no better. The extremely small portion of vegetables came on a shallow saucer, a little overcooked seemingly with juices from other batches of vegetables they had cooked. I don't know how the cook actually prepared the vegetables but that is what I perceived took place. But all of that did not upset me as much as what happened towards the end of dinner. We were there to celebrate my nephew's birthday. My sister brought a cake to celebrate. The waitress told us per the restaurant's policy, that we would be charged $2.50 or for each saucer that we used to eat the cake on!!!#$$. I have NEVER heard of such nonsense in all of my life!! We were a 15 person party with our table pulling no less than $500 for the food we ordered and you want to charge us $2.50 to use your saucers????!!!! The poor waitress went to the manager to ask for an exception but the manager would not waive the fee...she sent the waitress back to us to explain instead coming out to explain herself...POOR hospitality....for that reason I don't believe I will ever be back...the manager did not care...even if she realy couldn't make the exception, she could have at least greeted us and tried to explain...It makes me wonder who the owners are and why they've endorsed/instituted/allowed such a policy. It's not that we couldn't afford, it's the principal of making the customer feel welcomed and taken care of...its called GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. Hats off to the waitress, she had nothing to do with this. They need to do better. It was soo...

My boyfriend and I visited the restaurant tonight for their Valentine's Day special and definitely regret it. To start with, service was average at best but you could honestly tell this was our waitresses first serving job. Just generally very anxious and making a lot of mistakes an experienced server wouldn't make (leaving empty cups when bringing us new drinks for example, just lots of little things like that). Next was the food. The Valentine's Day special was very expensive and what we received wasn't worth a fraction of what was being charged. Soup and salad were mediocre, the crab dip appetizer was okay but I really expected more from a "seafood restaurant". For our entrees we both ordered surf and turf and that's where dinner fell apart. Both of our steaks smelled somewhat spoiled and were severely undercooked, my boyfriend's steak was actually raw in the middle (he ordered medium rare and I ordered medium well, my steak came out rare). Sent the steaks back, moved on to the lobster in the meantime. Both lobster tails were undercooked, soft/mushy and tasted extremely fishy. The steaks came back out, we sent the lobster back, the waitress left before we even had time to check our steaks which were still undercooked. At this point we asked for a manager, she came out and immediately tried to tell my boyfriend that he was wrong and the steak was cooked properly. After he explained that he had lots of experience in the restaurant industry and knew what he was talking about she backed down. We explained that I am pregnant and can't risk eating undercooked food and he just didn't want his anymore and so she agreed to only charge us for what we ate. All in all this was a terrible experience, especially for Valentine's Day, and we will not...
