Foodland — Attraction in Hawaii

Plus side, they have a great selection of organic produce and some grass fed beef which is great. Minus side, I was shopping the other day and had to pee half way through. I asked an employee if I could use the restroom, and while she did unlock the door for me, she rudely said, “just so you know, we don’t allow the public to use the restrooms”. WHAT??? Ok, I understand not wanting homeless people come off the street and shoot up in the restrooms, but they should have the sense to tell the difference between them and an obvious paying customer. She put her hand over the keypad while she did the combination so I couldn’t see it. LOL! Maybe she was afraid I would come back and steal some toilet paper. That’s horrible customer service! I was nicely dressed and had a cart half full of groceries! Most grocery stores have public restrooms. No excuse for a horrible company policy and employee rudeness. Next time...

Most of the staff in this store are very helpful. Unfortunately, they were out of a few things for which I was searching. The first checker I went to was incredibly slow. He had a lot of questions for a woman who came with a coupon and then he looked over the paper receipt for an interminable amount of time with a rather inappropriate grin on his face, finally crumpling it up and throwing it away. He seemed either cognitively impaired or on drugs. Finally, after the person behind me turned around and left,when he decided to call the manager over some other problem he found with that poor lady's total, I had to take all my groceries off and put them back in the basket and find another teller. As I gathered my groceries he commented, "This won't take long." It already had. He apparently has a different idea of what a long wait is , and I'm from the South! PUT YOUR MATHS HAT ON BEFORE YOU COME HERE! The store has everything one could need in terms of food, but the software at check-out was almost always wrong: it failed to register discounts, and often stated the wrong price altogether for certain goods, forcing you to often pay well above the price you should be paying. Every time I checked out I had to run through some budgetary arithmetic with the staff, who, to be fair, were very cooperative and always charged me the correct price in the end.
