Honolulu Harbor — Attraction in Hawaii

It has so much to offer you. There's Aloha Tower, Restaurant Row and many places to eat and shop. Also, there's Chinatown and the main business district for the State of Hawaii (Downtown) along with many historical sights like Iolani Palace. Honolulu Harbor is the front door to the island of Oahu from days of our past history to the modern day as we know it. This is why the island of Oahu is named "The Gathering Isle" the earliest english version known by British ships called it "Fair Haven". But "Honolulu" means "Sheltered Harbor" which everything as been built around making it the single most important partial of land known in the days of old Hawaii to present day which we now know as the "State of Hawaii". Honolulu Harbor is rich in history with days of old hidden within its landscape mixed with modern day architecture moving forward but not forgetting our past. The first European vessel to enter Honolulu Harbor was a long-boat from the British merchant ship King George. The boat rowed into the harbor on December 12, 1786. In 1850, Kamehameha III declared Honolulu to be the official capital of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi. With the proclamation came a series of investments to further develop the harbor to accommodate more vessels. Honolulu Harbor quickly became the chief port of call for the trans-Pacific sandalwood, fur and whaling industries.
