A nice beach just south of Laie. The sand is fine and the water is mostly clear. The waves were very aggressive near the south corner and there were lots of people with boards having fun in them. Near the northern part of the shore is an inlet to some still water where it looks greenish and a ton of trash has washed up on shore. There was a ton of trash also churning in the water in that area as well. The small parking lot seemed to be able to fit the amount of people that were on the beach. We came midday and had plenty of space to ourselves. Just have a look if you’re in the trash area before you set down your things and hop in.

We went for a quick stop at Pounder’s Beach aka Laie Beach Park or vice versa. It was another wild beach we visited during the winter months. It’s only a couple minutes drive from the Polynesian Cultural Centre in Laie (check Pounder’s Restaurant for a great pizza) on the eastern part of the island. The park was pretty empty during our visit and it was also quite windy with big waves…perfect conditions for the wave riders! Too bad the weather wasn’t warm enough to enjoy the water but just being at the beach was fun for us.

This beach is wildly underrated. It’s not a great beach for traditional surfing, but it’s probably the best beach on the island for body surfing and body boarding. It’s also a great place to hang out in the water. Once in a blue moon you can snorkel here but for 99% of days you cannot. There are some cliffs here to walk up on as well. This beach is right along Kam highway so it’s really easy to make a stop here.

Now this was a pretty impressive beach! Would have been five stars but no place to change clothes so plan ahead. There was a place to rinse off though. Some nice shady places to set up for the afternoon and the ocean floor was smooth.

Cool beach for body boarding, a lot of debris in the water in November. Like, plant matter, pieces if small wood, twigs and stuff. Scenic and a good beach to hang out on. I liked it - good photography opportunities here.

Gorgeous beach with beautiful sand, huge waves (we visited end of April), warm water, beautiful mountain views, and a parking lot. Felt like I was visiting a PC screensaver photo location. So glad we stopped.
