CD Warehouse — Attraction in Hempfield Township

Update: I wanted to give the store another shot the week of Sept. 15th. My original review (~May/June) was quite negative, focused around faulty gaming systems and bad price points across a handful of my previous visits. The products and prices on this revisit were fine, standard for what you'll find in similar stores. It is what it is. I wanted to update based on the behavior of the owner Casper, which I found to be, if I'm putting it politely, exceedingly uncouth.

Upon looking me up in the system to make a trade, he became confrontational toward me over my previous review (I suppose he flags customers' accounts who give negative reviews...strange). In front of other customers and employees he became more and more agitated with me, continually bringing up my review while raising his voice with each repetition. He must have brought it up at least six or seven times, presumably waiting for my embarrassment, sheepishness, or apology. Had the temperament of our interaction been less hostile, I may have given any one of those. Anyway, the conversation ended with his voice nearing a dull shout, and the transaction was completed shortly after he finished harassing me over the negative review. Given how forceful he was and how long this went on, I imagine the other customers and employees felt relieved this was over.

Ultimately, I would've been happy to revise my earlier review in a more positive manner - I was there in good faith and am not beyond admitting that I may have been too harsh previously. But after speaking about this with some other folks and hearing their advice, updating this account seemed reasonable. Uncouth,...

I recently bought a PS2. I didn't have any games for it yet. I wanted to make sure it worked. This place is about 20 minutes from me. I run up and grab a ps1 and ps2 game from there. Load the ps2 game no problem. The ps1 game(which was a little costly for a ps1 game) did not work. Tried for about 20 minutes with no luck.

I go back to the store to refund it and they tell me they won't give me my money back. They will give store credit. Even tho I was just there about an hour ago. Ok that's a little frustrating but no big deal. I'll grab a few other games.

The problem is their selection is so small that was difficult in itself. They also tell me on the return "we can't check all the games to make sure they work. We just visually inspect them". Really? You couldn't check the 20 ps1 games and 20 ps2 games you have?

So I buy 4 more games with the balance I had(3 ps1 and 1 ps2). The ps2 game didn't work and 1 of the ps1 games did not work. So out of the 6 games I've tried. Half of them don't work. Honestly I'm just taking the L at this point cuz there's not even a selection of games to choose from.

I just bought what I wanted off ebay. Which were A. much cheaper, B. In extremely good condition and C. Were tested before. Overall a pretty poor experience at...

Lots of music and movies. Good selection of vinyl. Prices are fair as well. They buy used CDs/vinyl/video games/movies but I'm not sure what they offer. I don't usually bother with this feature of used places because most places don't give you much. All in all a good place to look for cheap prices on movies and CDs.

Update: my first experience with CD Warehouse record store day was very good. The staff handled the crowd very well and the selection there was absolutely incredible! Again, the staff was very knowledgeable of the available stock and able to direct the crowd to what they were looking for. This is a very good place and well worth the trip!

Update 2: Even well after RSD 2022, this location still has tons of RSD exclusives. Obviously not the most sought after items like Taylor Swift or RHCP, but if you couldn't make it to a RSD and you would still like some of that sweet exclusive vinyl, CD Warehouse is more than worth a visit!
