Hershey Gardens is an absolute gem, especially if you’re a fan of butterflies. The butterfly atrium is a standout feature that transports you to a tropical paradise filled with vibrant, fluttering butterflies. As soon as you enter, you’re greeted by a warm, humid environment that mimics the natural habitats of these delicate creatures. The variety of butterflies is impressive, with species from all over the world showcasing an array of colors and patterns. It’s a wonderful learning experience as well, with informative displays and friendly staff who are always eager to share interesting facts about the butterflies and their life cycles. The lush plant life within the atrium adds to the magical atmosphere. It’s not just about the butterflies; the whole setting is beautifully maintained, making it a perfect spot for photography enthusiasts. Everywhere you look, there’s something captivating, from exotic flowers to delicate vines that create a harmonious environment for the butterflies. Beyond the butterfly atrium, Hershey Gardens offers an expansive outdoor garden area that’s equally enchanting. The themed gardens, such as the rose garden and Japanese garden, provide a serene walking experience with plenty of benches to sit and take in the beauty. The Children’s Garden is a fantastic addition for families, offering interactive elements that engage kids in nature and gardening. Overall, Hershey Gardens is a must-visit destination for anyone in the area. It’s a peaceful, educational, and visually stunning place that offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, a visit to Hershey Gardens, especially the butterfly atrium, is an experience you won’t forget.

Beautiful gardens but you need to be EXTREMELY careful inside the butterfly garden. I understand with how delicate everything is in there you have to not touch anything. Unfortunately someone made a mistake and to get the butterfly off the ground (in a closed in, very tight area if more than 2 people standing there), they let it walk onto their hand and they lifted it up to a nearby plant. They did it very delicately, not touching the wings or anything (butterfly had full range to do whatever it wanted) but by the time she lifted it up to a nearby leaf a young female staff member had saw her and swooped in like a hawk almost tripping over herself, raising her voice way above what was appropriate (very embarrassing in a room full of people) telling the girl how she better not catch her doing it again or else she is being thrown out. Heaven forbid one lands on a person, I'd hate to see what happens then! Later on I told a family with two small children going in about it and told them that if one lands on them to stiffen up and be prepared to be yelled at. The situation could have been handled better. On the other hand, staff seems okay with middle aged women cutting off the red roses in the garden and walking out with them. *shrug* go figure. There is a place in the main building for what looks like a wedding venue. There are restrooms outside (lit only by the sunroof), a few vending machines nearby the restroom and what looks like a building to sit out of the sun. Everything was clean and well kept.

Our visit to Hershey Gardens was an absolute delight from start to finish! Nestled in the heart of Hershey, this botanical gem offers a perfect blend of beauty, relaxation, and fun for the entire family. The grounds are impeccably maintained, with vibrant flower beds, serene walking paths, and a stunning array of plants and trees. The Butterfly Atrium was a highlight for our kids; they were fascinated by the colorful butterflies fluttering around and even landing on them! It was a magical experience that they still talk about. We also loved the Children's Garden, which is designed specifically with little ones in mind. Our kids enjoyed exploring the interactive exhibits and learning about nature in a hands-on way. The garden is well thought out, with plenty of shaded areas, benches for resting, and educational signage that made the visit both fun and informative. The seasonal displays were breathtaking, and it's clear that a lot of thought and care goes into every aspect of the gardens. We visited during the summer, and the blooming roses were absolutely stunning. The combination of natural beauty and family-friendly activities made Hershey Gardens a perfect destination for our day out. Overall, Hershey Gardens exceeded our expectations in every way. Whether you're a nature lover, a family with young children, or just looking for a peaceful escape, Hershey Gardens is a must-visit. We'll definitely be returning!
