This is a great place to bring young kids or for anyone that is interested in seeing a variety of butterflies and moths up close and flying around. From the size of a quarter to big as your palm, bright and colorful to dark ones with spots. If your lucky, one might land on you. The atrium also have butterflies and moths at different stages from cocoon and up. Again, if you're lucky you can witness the staff releasing some butterflies or moths that have just emerged from their cocoon into the atrium. There are a few other displays of insects too including a big tarantula or even more rare the Atlas Moth. Just be ready to shed your jackets because it's nice and warm inside, a t-shirt is all you need. You can spend about half an hour in the atrium. Afterwards a visit in the gardens for an opportunity to see roses in over a dozen different colors, trees, plants and a children's garden where there are plenty of benches to relax and enjoy the scenery, weather and wildlife. Read moreThe butterfly room is BEAUTIFUL. Everything was so interesting to look at! And there was so much to look at and see! The staff are kind, courteous, and knowledgeable! But you pay A LOT of money, and only get to be in that beauty for 10 min. That's it. Just 10 min. And they give you a 2 min warning, so it felt like I had to rush around trying to take it all in, and to process what each if my 4 kids and husband were all excited to show me as well. Covid may have changed their availability to allow people in the butterfly room. But you can only go in once per ticket. Perhaps adjusting the tickets that people can go in again as long as times are not maxed out by other 1st time in a day patrons, on the same day would be a good way to give people a better value.
