This is a great place to bring young kids or for anyone that is interested in seeing a variety of butterflies and moths up close and flying around. From the size of a quarter to big as your palm, bright and colorful to dark ones with spots. If your lucky, one might land on you. The atrium also have butterflies and moths at different stages from cocoon and up. Again, if you're lucky you can witness the staff releasing some butterflies or moths that have just emerged from their cocoon into the atrium. There are a few other displays of insects too including a big tarantula or even more rare the Atlas Moth. Just be ready to shed your jackets because it's nice and warm inside, a t-shirt is all you need. You can spend about half an hour in the atrium. Afterwards a visit in the gardens for an opportunity to see roses in over a dozen different colors, trees, plants and a children's garden where there are plenty of benches to relax and enjoy the scenery, weather and wildlife. If you're lucky, the gardens also sells pots of roses to bring home, usually in the spring. This is a must visit...

The Butterfly Conservatory at Hershey Gardens is a delightful little gem. It’s a casual, low-key experience that makes for a lovely walk-through, surrounded by an amazing variety of colorful butterflies. The setting is relaxed and welcoming, which makes it especially enjoyable for families with children.

The butterflies themselves are beautiful and plentiful—drifting gracefully all around you, landing on flowers, and sometimes even close enough to admire up-close. The atmosphere is peaceful, yet filled with that small spark of wonder that keeps both kids and adults engaged.

It’s not overwhelming in size, which makes it very approachable and easy to enjoy at your own pace. Whether you’re there to explore as part of a larger trip to Hershey Gardens or simply seeking a short, enchanting stop, the Butterfly Conservatory is well...

The butterfly room is BEAUTIFUL. Everything was so interesting to look at! And there was so much to look at and see! The staff are kind, courteous, and knowledgeable! But you pay A LOT of money, and only get to be in that beauty for 10 min. That's it. Just 10 min. And they give you a 2 min warning, so it felt like I had to rush around trying to take it all in, and to process what each if my 4 kids and husband were all excited to show me as well. Covid may have changed their availability to allow people in the butterfly room. But you can only go in once per ticket. Perhaps adjusting the tickets that people can go in again as long as times are not maxed out by other 1st time in a day patrons, on the same day would be a good way to give people a better value. The outdoor gardens I am sure will...

This was my first time here. We had a small picnic outside of the grounds where there were tables (no grills though). There are public bathrooms and a small gift shop. There are WAY more plants and butterflies than my camera (phone) would have room for and the family would have time for. There is a room where you are surrounded by butterflies and this was what we did after walking the grounds and seeing various displays. I am NOT one that knows a whole lot about the different kinds of plants...but I like seeing God's creation! And the pics never do justice as compared to the reality. It did cost $40.50 for my wife/daughter/myself to gain entry to the grounds...but they truly enjoyed their time! More than a few times some of the flying butterflies would land on people. Really cool for the kids! 😇😎

Breathtaking... I'm almost at a loss for words at the beauty of this place. It sits up on the hill in Hershey and overlooks the theme park. The image I've provided is the waiting room before you go into the butterfly sanctuary and you can vaguely see the park through the windows. Now if you want a magical experience, you must go here and see the butterflies. They're so gentle, and beautiful... Just a walk through the sanctuary will give you a sense of wonder unlike any other, a true paradise. When you're done with the sanctuary I highly recommend a walk through their extensive garden which feels like you're walking through a picturesque painting. An experience that's worth creating a memory, and worth every penny.
