Buyer beware the quality and craftsmanship offered by Hickory Park!! I’ve never been so disappointed with a furniture purchase experience or the quality of the product we received for the price.
We ordered a console table with wood base, stone top at the beginning of February. We are not local, so we received initial delivery of the table in mid-April. The base was in fine condition but the stone tabletop was split into 2 pieces.
We were instructed to accept the base and a replacement top would be delivered as soon as possible.
Several months later, without any consultation, we were told Hickory Park had opted to repair rather than replace the table top. We paid a good price for the table in new condition, so I asked what discount was available for instead getting a repaired table top so we could determine if that's something we would agree to. Read moreAbout a year ago, I purchased a sofa and 3 recliners from Hickory Park. I was a bit hesitant to purchase out of state and sight unseen. However, the Sales person, Jerry Rhoney, was so helpful and polite, I felt comfortable ordering from her. She was informative and responsive throughout the entire process. Not to mention, their prices were better than anywhere else I could find. Then I received the furniture. We had a couple of issues with the sofa. Jerre put me in touch with their service dept and Mary Lineberger. She had a service technician out to fix the issue in no time. After another few months with the furniture, we encountered another problem with the leather (this was nothing to do with Hickory Park, this was an issue with the manufacturer). Again they were very responsive and ready to resolve the issue even if it meant picking it up and taking it back to North Caroline from Texas. By this time, we had come to realize the sofa we selected was not as comfortable as we expected. Our necks would hurt after sitting on it for any period of time. This is something you don't realize until you have your furniture for awhile. Well what happened next was nothing short of amazing. This company, Hickory Park, allowed us to return the sofa and re-select another one after months of ownership. We chose a less expensive model and they refunded the difference. I don't think you will find that with any furniture store in the nation. We have now received our newly selected furniture and love it. Again Jerre and Mary are the BOMB. They understand the importance of OUTSTANDING customer service. And I have to say they must have an owner who does as well. Mary listened to our problems and concerns and instead of saying sorry, she went and approached the owner. She did not take the easy route. She went to bat for the customer. The efforts of these two ladies and the decisions they were allowed to make resulted in a lifetime customer. But more importantly is word of mouth. Read moreI never had ordered an expensive recliner without first sitting in it. However I made an exception when I ordered the"Powell" recliner from Hickory Park because the depth of the seat itself was only 18 inches instead of the usual 20 to 22 inches..thus eliminating the need for a pillow. Diane Christensen helped me a great deal in selecting the choice of leather by sending me swatches with prices so I could make an informed decision. Due to the Pandemic there was an expected delay in the delivery time. The point is that Dianne and the customer service people always kept me informed about what was happening, which was far more important to me than the delay. I have ordered furniture before (not chairs) and was concerned about quality control even though I was told Hickory Park was very good at the quality control from the factory and very selective on their shippers. When the chair was uncovered at delivery to my home there was not a single defect ..not even a slight scratch anywhere! The bottom line is the way Diane and Robin Geyer and the Company operates should eliminate any concern about ordering on line because they COMMUNICATE, and deliver a great product. The only negative part of this experience was, after my Wife sat in the chair, she announced that this chair was the most comfortable chair she ever sat in and claimed it for herself. I now have to recover the existing recliner that we planned to donate to a charity, so that I will still have a recliner for myself. This was in no way part of the original plan and, if Diane and her Company did not make such a superior product, I would not have been preempted by a force of nature, with whom I have never won an argument in 61 years!
