This is a great place to take your folding chair and listen to music that the City of Hickory provides by calling different bands from around the USA not just from Hickory,NC only. One group that will play at this location on Friday September 30,2022 if it doesn't rain ☔ is coming from Canada. The group from last Friday came from Nashville,TN. All different types of music is played. People can get on the dance floor and dance including the kids can dance too. While you're listening to the bands you have a chance to order dinner from Old Hickory Tap Room who has great food. They really do have great food. There's the old train station that is a one minute or less walk. There's tables to sit at or you can bring your own folding table. U can bring food from home too if you wish. Now September 30th will be the last night until the singing resumes in either late April or May 2023. They go from 7PM-8:30PM during the summer time May, June and September. They skip July and August too hot. Now they have different activities around July 4th holiday, for Halloween 🎃 for the little kids and Christmas tree 🎄 lighting. Read the Hickory Hop or the News 📰🗞️ paper. I've been coming for years and will...
Read moreI came to downtown Hickory for one thing, which turned out it closed early.
So me and my son (he's a toddler) did some exploring so it wasn't a wasted trip. We found this place has a lot to offer!
During our walk we visited Lowe's food park, had Gelato under the Sails, and even the bridge was a sight to see!
My son was most excited to see the "Canon" as he called it. He asked "does it still shoot the bad guys!?" 🤣 I read the history plaque to him and of course I told him it could! But honestly idk 🤷🏽♂️ who am I to ruin his imagination. Lolz He still loved it either way!
All in all, The Square was awesomeness! It was worth it just to see him light up at something as small as the rocking chairs. Lolz
So if all you do is come up here to explore, it won't be a...

I really enjoyed each day I spent there, but what I’m most thankful is that from this city came the most wonderful people that I have by my side. Greetings...
