Today I decided to go downtown Hickory which is so beautiful and peaceful during this sunny day. I decided to go into the Hickor Wine Shoppe. It was the worst decision I have ever made wasting my hard earned money there because one person who works Ariel. She gave me attitude as I talk to her. I like to talk to the employees and be social and joke at every place I spend money you would think they would be happy but not the case this time around apparently she could not handle it. I was looking for a zinfadel wine. Ariel found a bottle for $35. That was great I was planning on buying the bottle of wine. Then I asked for crackers and cheese and a glass of Resling wine. That was good but as I talked to Ariel her attitude went from friendly & helpful as I walked. I could sense and feel her bad attitude and here im not buying this here bottle of wine after she from friendly to having an attitude. So annoyed by her attitude I paid for the crackers & cheese and glass of wine. I worked in the food industry and dealt with people who I didnt care for but I still treat them with respect and tried to be sweet as possible. You know kill rhem with kindness. Ariel acted like she can act anyway she wants be rude when she wants. After I paid my bill I got to leave and said I didnt buy this bottle of wine because your attitude. She got angry said something to me as I was leaving which wasnt nice im sure I didnt catch what she said. I did say "whatever" and left. I'm never going back therer again. The only woman that was a blonde hair woman behind the counter was atleast...
Read moreThis shoppe has a beautiful and welcoming interior. The shopping center in which it is located is also quite beautiful. I was impressed before I even made my way to the wine racks. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I called ahead to make sure they had a decent sake selection, and to my surprise the young woman that answered the phone seemed genuinely excited to help me. When I arrived, and made my way to the sake, she approached me, ask me a couple questions about what I like, and helped me pick out the perfect bottle for me. The entire experience was very comfortable and relaxed, and I left with a smile feeling confident about my purchase. The sake she helped me select was absolutely wonderful. Normally I try to be objective and find at least one flaw when leaving a review, but I simply cannot find one. Hickory Wine Shoppe will be the only place I buy wine from this day forward. They have earned a lifetime customer. Thank you for an amazing experience, if I could give you more than 5 stars...
Read moreMy husband went to the wine shoppe this afternoon to have drinks and something to eat. We came in and sat down at an open table, it wasn't very busy. We sat there as the bar staff looked the other way talking to each other disregarding our arrival. We finally were approached very matter of factly; Here is our menu, I'll get you some water. We ordered a couple of drinks to decide what we wanted. 20 minutes later, no one bothered to ask if we were okay of if we wanted anything else. We decided to go somewhere else with better service, In a word.. it was like we were an inconvenience to them. Not looking to return and definitely won't be...
