Park Avenue Boat Ramp — Attraction in Highland Park

Although the launch is open this year, the politics and logistics of navigating are a nightmare. We went to the rec center and were very clear about what we wanted to purchase, and were given the necessary decals. Didn't get the key fob for the boat ramp, they forgot to mail it, had to go pick it up.

They had 2 staff members at the launch the day we went out, but they're not there to be of any assistance, only there to police. They were very rude when they approached us about not having the proper decals for launching, and when we explained that this is what we were told we needed, they scoffed at us and told us we must be mistaken. Nevermind that we had the documentation...(and like we would've known we were misinformed, until they informed us? come on.)

As mentioned, the staff is not there to assist with launching and coming ashore. With 3 small children and a boater in a wheelchair, it takes us longer than the average boater to launch. Without any staff at the launch to assist, others had to wait much longer than they should have because it takes us longer. My husband even took it upon himself to help a boater...

A beautiful place to view the lakefront from and stroll the beach with quite a few parking places also have seen folks surfing there as well as lunching their boats. Also if your a geocacher there is one really cool cache to find down there. Grew up coming here and wanted to check out the waves since they were crazy up by me. Got to show my daughter how cool it was, albeit quite dangerous, as you can see how close some people parked to the water. Fun experience and if you have a chance the beach is nice as well.
