3/8 Edit to Add: Barry W. (an owner I believe) called to discuss and apologize for our experience, explain how there is protocol that wasn’t followed but should have been, and demonstrate ways the team will take our recommendations to heart. Thank you for listening to and learning from your customers.

AAP HHI has the right idea and good intentions, but there is so much attention to detail that great cat boarding provided by true cat lovers can offer that is currently lacking. Were our cats safe? Yes. Is there room for improvement? Also yes.

Coming to HHI for vacation, we liked the idea of boarding our two one-year-old cats nearby in case there was an emergency. The on-island options were incredibly limited, so we were glad to find AAP HHI online and read about how the cat accommodations are not adjacent to the dog accommodations as they are at our vet’s office. We decided to book a week’s stay “sight unseen.” Overall, our experience was mixed.

Note: We had family boarding their dog and they had no such complaints. AAP HHI seems to have a better handle on dog boarding with their daily playdate options, access to the outdoors, and larger accommodations. Our experience is specific to the cat boarding service.

Strengths Convenient location from anywhere on the island Affordable pricing (less than $500 for 2 cats for 7 days) Easy booking experience (called to book then made profile online) Friendly check-in experience (allowed to set up cats in Cat Suite before departing) Staff took time to read our notes and instructions Staff took inventory of our personal belongings Staff greeted us kindly every time we visited Can visit Cat Suites at any time during business hours without calling ahead (though you might not have access to Play Area when you’re visiting) Can decide how (often) cats are fed, including up to four meals per day Cat Suites are located across the facility from the dog accommodations, separated by the Retail Store (could not hear barking unless dogs were in Retail Store) Play Area is air conditioned to 68 degrees with screens on Cat Suite doors allowing airflow Staff hung fabric to act as a curtain between our Cat Suite and the occupied Play Area when our cats were clearly stressed

Opportunities Cat Suites are very small with 2’x3’ floor space that is monopolized by cat tree base, food and water dishes, and litter box - recommend anchoring cat trees and/or installing wall-mounted play shelves/huts Cat Suites and Play Area have no windows to the outdoors - recommend dimmable lighting to simulate day/night Play Area housed several cats that had direct view into all Cat Suites (we were told these were the supervisor’s cats as she was between houses, unfortunately impeding on what we expected/paid for) - recommend not using Play Area as overflow cat accommodations Play Area was not available until Day 3 of 7 after repeated inquiries, and then was only available at certain inconsistent times of day - recommend a consistent rotation/schedule Feliway pheromone diffuser was not used until Day 3 of 7 after single inquiry, but was placed at far end of Play Area - recommend one diffuser in each Cat Suite Report Cards contain 1-2 photos max and basic comments like “Loving our time at AAP” - recommend reporting on meal/waste habits, play time, and overall wellness as we want to know how our cats are doing and not that we can follow you on social media Discovered soft stool and diarrhea in litter box by happenstance - recommend notifying owners of issues via Report Card Saw staff use same litter scoop between Cat Suites - recommend using clean litter scoop for each Cat Suite Saw staff use vacuum to clean Play Area - recommend using only a broom and dustpan Appliance cords (e.g. tower fan, air conditioner) in Play Area are not wrapped - recommend protecting against...

Friendly staff but unfortunately disappointed based on what I expected from the overall experience. The staff was very good about communicating during the booking process and very friendly when I drop my baby off and picked her up but…I was disappointed with the communication or lack there of during her stay. I expected a report card and did not get one until I came to pick her up and asked about it. The staff member did apologize because she thought it was sent, she said there would be at least one picture. There were no pictures in the report card, even thought the staff member said there was. Then I received another report to my email about an hour or so after pick up with a picture of some other dogs. My baby was no where to be see . Also when I picked her up I the staff member commented on how she ate her breakfast but no comment about dinner the previous night. When I looked at the report card under dinner it said N/A. I dropped her off at about 5:25pm, which should have given time for her to be feed. So I’m not sure what happened. I have boarded my dog in my hometown at her Vets office in the past. They charge $15 a night, which I know is very reasonable. They make no claims at being a “luxury” facility. But they are very nice, clean, and my baby always seems happy when I pick her up. All About Pets is by no means a bad place but for what I paid, I just expected a different experience. Update: I wanted to add to my review that someone from All About Pets did call and acknowledge and apologize for the situation with the report card not having any pictures of my fur-baby. I was told that the picture I was sent of a group of other dogs was due to the fact that there were two dogs there at the time name Lailah and the computer pulled a picture of the wrong Lailah. I appreciate the phone call and the acknowledgment, which was good...

We had an amazing experience at All About Pets and highly recommend them for your next boarding/grooming needs! We needed a last minute accommodation and called All About Pets within 24 hours of our reservation, and they were able to take all THREE of our dogs for the whole day and groom them! All 3 of our dogs are very different and needed specialized attention - our miniature schnauzer is 13 years old and very nervous around strangers; our Hungarian vizsla is very high energy, and doesn’t enjoy baths; we also have a 3 year old golden retriever with specific grooming needs. All About Pets completely exceeded our expectations, left our dogs very happy and clean, and had incredible prices!! Our vizsla was running around all day and having fun with the other dogs. Upon our request, they even left our golden and miniature schnauzer together in the same room so that the schnauzer would be more comfortable :) We will definitely be coming back! Thank you guys so much for...
