I am rating this five stars because I'm so glad to have a Megaplex nearby. I love the Megaplex chain, but don't expect this location to be the same arthouse and food court experience of Jordan Commons. Confusingly, this location does not offer the same quality artsy movies of Megaplex Sandy, even though Holladay and Cottonwood are known for its arts-loving citizens. Expect only standard fare in movie selection.
Even though all six of its screens are luxury recliner rooms, these are not the same quality recliners as other luxury locations and chains, and are sometimes marked unavailable or sold because their electronics are out of service. Don't expect pizza, hamburgers, or fountain drinks out of anything but a yucky freestyle machine. Employees try really hard to please, and are about the best any theatre could hope to employ for minimum wage, but Megaplex might find it easier to fill these seats if it paid a little more to achieve the kind of competence Holladay and Cottonwood citizens have come to expect from their shops and services.
Putting a luxury theatre here was a really good idea because there is massive demand for a local luxury showhouse, but making it not actually up to luxury standards (or even the standards of other Megaplexes in any capacity except recliners), is a shame. A few little extras like pizza, veggie cups, real fountain drinks, a tray that holds movie concessions, a condiment station with things like pepper packets, and just one of its screens showing high-reviewed new artsy movies would make it a Holladay area word-of-mouth preferred destination in less than a year. Hopefully, when Megaplex builds a full-scale theatre in the redeveloping Cottonwood Mall lot, it will include amenities found at its...
Read moreI went on Tuesday for $5 Tuesday. I arrived only to find my movie was only playing VIP for the last showing that night so my ticket would basically be full price $11.No where on imdb nor on your times listed here does it say if your movie is in a VIP theater, hence double price. I bought the tickets anyways seeing it was the last showing and I was meeting a friend there. I ordered my drink and nachos and was informed since it was VIP they would get my order inside. I go to the bathroom and my buddy and I walk to the doors 10 on the dot. The hostess informs us since the previews just started I need to look at the menu and order outside the theater... hence missing a preview and delaying my drink and nachos even more. I order my food and it takes 12 minutes to arrive. I could have had my food and drink the second I sat down and not have to order outside the theater before going in.... all for half the price without the VIP. No one goes to a movie to be VIP. It's not a club, or a basketball game. And lastly... sitting thru previews that look all too familiar as the feature movie begins it's the wrong movie (Jurassic Wold, not Sicario 2) don't know if much else could...
Read moreThis place is a fancy luxury theater. There are reclining seats, healthier food (salad and wraps), there is also ice-cream, popcorn, candy and alot of the regular movie theater snack which personally I have no interest in which is why I love that this theater has other options. And to top it off, you can order, go into the theater and they will bring your food to you. It also has a fold out tray so you can have a little table over your lap for your food. The layout of the theater is simple but nice. When you walk through the doors I beleive you can see a car on the floor (I'm not sure if they are selling it? Or its just a symbol of Larry H Miller founding the theaters.) There is a lounge down by the car but I have never used it so I don't know if there are rules for using that. Then you go up the stairs where you will find the consessions and the movie theater rooms. There are no ticket booths, you just buy tickets online or at the concessions counter. It's simple, small, and smart. I love this theater. I believe it is the simplest version of what we have to look forward to...
