Update Sept 2024: in my first review i said i would come back again and buy a package of body treatments to take advantage of the discount price and prioritize bodywork more in my training routine. I am so glad i did!
This year I've ran 1200 miles (longest day being 100 miles, and many days 30-50 miles) and I've done about 700 miles on the mountain bike. Jessa, the owner, takes interest in making sure my training and body work line up properly: this year she has recommended i do more Sports Massages with Liz.
Lis is an absolute pro and helped me work the pain and tightness out of my legs after big days in the mountains or races. By incorporating movement/stretching and massage therapy into the Sports massage treatment, i recover better and it's become critical part of my routine at this point.
This year i am on track for higher running miles, but my body feels better because of the treatments I'm getting here. Definitely check this out when you can.
I stand by my review below (from about this time last year) regarding the overall experience: super clean, friendly homie space. I feel very comfortable here and appreciate the calming effect on my mind and body. If you're an athlete in the Wasatch front you need to check this place out! From Fall 2023: This was my first time at Rocksteady and the start of my effort to focus on recovery treatments like this. I run about 1200+ miles every year and do a few ultra-marathons along the way so i need the treatment to maintain my body. I've always done chiropractic but have neglected the soft tissue aspect of recovery...until now. I'm hooked - here is why: First, I Loved the experience overall: the facility is very clean, tranquil, calming and of course refreshing! I was surprised to say the space was decorated more like a home - it was very comfortable and relaxing to be in. Considering my past experience is "a normal spa", very few nail the aesthetic quite like Rocksteady - well done team! Treatments: You can do one off treatments or packages deals and you can select from several levels of specialists, durations, etc, which tiers the pricing. Overall, the service was top notch - Ares was ready for me when I arrived and we got to work quickly. She asked thoughtful questions to understand what brought me in, and what I thought i needed. We focused on key areas of my legs to address some issues I've had while running. She was helpful guiding me through what she was doing and why. I was able to converse with her on a personal level and give feedback on the treatment as it was happening (harder, lighter, etc). I did 60 minutes and could work up to longer as my body responds to the treatments, but this was a good starting point for me. Ares and company were professional, talented, and thoughtful - I didnt get to shake hands with the owner because she was leading a Pilates class, but she left me a note at the front desk! I felt very important-LOL! So thoughtful! Ill be back and will get the package deal to save some money and get on the...
Read moreAfter hearing about how amazing Jessa is for years, I finally got myself to Rocksteady a few months ago for the first time (can't believe it took me so long!). Jessa and the space far exceeded my expectations. I knew that she and team took a different approach to wellness, a very holistic approach, but the way in which they present the information is more digestible, approachable and fun than I could have imagined.
I have had bodywork from Jessa and Jeremy so far and both sessions have been amazing in unique ways. When I visited Jeremy I had a focused area that I needed help releasing and felt amazing the days following. My first time with Jessa was last night and the calmness I've felt since has been wonderful. During my session with Jessa we explored many different modalities that could help with my overuse injury and chronic pain disease. I love her holistic approach and passion for bringing such wellness to our community.
I have attended yoga classes from Sloane and Jessa so far and the dynamic movement they include has been something that I began using in my teaching as a yoga teacher. The knowledge and expertise that the entire team has is outstanding and not found anywhere else that I have found yet.
I am excited to start incorporating pilates into my practice in addition to yoga as suggested by Jessa and cannot wait to enjoy the benefits.
I cannot recommend Rocksteady...
Read moreI have been coming to Rocksteady for years now. I've taken many of the classes including burn reformer, breathe reformer, mat pilates, roll and release, and deep release. All of the classes are amazing! In addition to the smaller class sizes, I love the inclusive spirit and deep caring for the whole individual that exudes from everyone there. I have not found a better workout than what burn reformer offers. Additionally, I enjoy learning how to better move my body in breathe reformer/mat classes and LOVE the deep release/roll & release classes, which help my body recover and prevent injury.
On top of all this, the bodywork massage offered here is phenomenal and it has been a game changer for me by helping me heal from and prevent injuries. Jessa is a true master at intentional deep tissue massage and all of Rocksteady's other massage therapists have been trained by her, so we can all look forward to experiencing even more mastery in the coming months and years here ;-)
Just yesterday, I had an amazingly helpful massage with Cydni, one of the other therapists. I did the 90 minute myofascial unwinding and it has really helped with my Achilles tendonitis!
Thank you Rocksteady community for keeping my body, mind, and spirit balanced and...
