I want to be circumspect about my review because there were some good things about this place. However, I thought it was overpriced and was definitely miserably overcrowded at Tulip Festival time.

To start with the positives, the history of the Dutch Windmill, which was brought from the Netherlands and is the centerpiece of the park, was quite interesting. When there are not swarms of people, I am sure climbing up to the windmill deck in peaceful surroundings offers a great view. The green space was lovely and the tulips at festival time were beautiful. But I could get those things for free in other spots close by. The (very) few buildings replicating a Dutch Village were nice enough. I understand there's also craft and other special events that could be value-add at various times. The miniature village display inside one of the buildings is worth a look. There is also a nice play area for the kids (again, similar things could be accessed for free elsewhere).

Even taking all the agreeable positive features into account, my experience at this park will not be remembered fondly. For $12 per adult, there was not enough to justify the price. I'll be fair here and say that the crowds simply ruined it, and that might be the biggest reason for my negative memories. But stepping back and extrapolating to an experience involving a more reasonable number of people, I'd still have to say that I'd walk away feeling that I was overcharged. I'd definitely feel that way if the tulips were not in season. Having been to various attractions and events in different parts of the world, if I'm to be honest, this is in the bottom 10th percentile in terms of value. Much of the negativity in my review could be cleaned up if the organizers for the Tulip Festival could come up with a better way to manage the crowds. But, even if they did, I think a price adjustment for the admission is required to get a better...

Windmill Island in Holland, Michigan is a charming and picturesque destination that is definitely worth a visit. This beautiful park is home to an authentic Dutch windmill, stunning gardens, and plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation and relaxation.

The windmill itself is a true marvel of engineering and craftsmanship. Visitors can learn about its history and inner workings. The windmill tour guides are knowledgeable and passionate about their subject, making for an engaging and educational experience.

The gardens at Windmill Island are absolutely stunning. There are a variety of different gardens to explore, each with its own unique charm and beauty. The tulip garden is particularly impressive, with rows upon rows of brilliantly colored flowers in full bloom. The butterfly garden is also a delight, with a variety of colorful butterflies fluttering about.

In addition to the windmill and gardens, Windmill Island also offers plenty of other activities for visitors to enjoy. There is a petting zoo, a playground for children, and a picnic area where visitors can relax and enjoy a meal in the beautiful surroundings.

Overall, I highly recommend Windmill Island in Holland, Michigan. Whether you are a history buff, a nature lover, or simply looking for a peaceful and beautiful place to spend the day, Windmill Island is the perfect destination. The windmill and gardens are truly a sight to behold, and the park offers plenty of activities and amenities to keep visitors of all ages...

This is a gem in West Michigan. I visited with my son on a week night during Tulip Time and it was not too overwhelming and the volunteers working the event were so nice and informative. Definitely wear your walking shoes if you plan to visit, and check the hours - we showed up in the last hour they are open, but did not feel rushed off. There is a play area and carousel for kids. There is a gift shop area as well, and the prices seemed very fair for (we purchased some wooden Tulips, which was a really cool and inexpensive souvenir). Local guide notes: Not a great option for food. There was a carnival/fair vendor on site and it was literally the worst experience I've ever had - I paid $6 for COLD, stale fries. They definitely prepared too much food and I ended up with overpriced leftovers at the end of the day. I wanted to complain but didn't know who to take the complaint to. I just hope someone in charge sees this review so they can find a better option! Otherwise,...

5/26/2019 Me and my wife had a relaxing stroll around windmill island, where you will see many colors of tulips, some Dutch styled building, a few trinket shops, a lake, bridges, and staff dressed in traditional Dutch clothing. Cost of entry was $10 each which seemed reasonable. It is t a huge area in terms of what’s actually worth looking at. There is a sort of track that goes around the property which you can walk on. There are a variety of trees and flowers to see aside from tulips. We came about a week or so after the main tulip season so about 70% of the petals had fallen off but some varieties seemed to have persisted long enough for us to enjoy them. Do your research before coming to Holland Michigan. If you’re just coming to see tulips you don’t need to go to Veldheer tulip gardens or Windmill Island, the town has them publicly available for free. Hope this review helps some people plan their vacations/road trips.
