when I was a kid and fished off a dock behind our house there it's peaceful I love it down there that's nice place to walk with your loved one they made it very beautiful I like how they left the old electric place or you know the place that Houston Electric Company of very old building how you can walk around it look inside I like how they made it where where you can have a picnic on top of it you could walk all around it has anybody ever does anybody know what happened to the tombstone that was there I know there was nobody buried there so I'm not sure if it was just some kind of marker but like I said great place for for the family to go down there and the kids...
Read moreWindow on the Waterfront is a very nice, open park space on the marshy waterfront at the edge of Holland, Michigan. There is an attractive, wooden overlook above and around what looks to be a very old, interesting pumping station that is no longer in use. Wish they would put up an informational placard about this building. There are extensive and well laid out walkways along the marsh with benches dotting the path. We were able to spot a beaver that we followed for a while. An abundance of tulips in many varieties are planted here for the Tulip Time Festival in early May. This is a great spot for a ramble...
Read moreIt’s crazy to think that 50 years ago this was the city dump! And now just last week there were many birders watching the mergansers, buffleheads, and other waterfowl fly through. The sand hill cranes are very impressive when they come through mid-spring. Maybe most exciting of all has been the recent trumpeter swan sightings! I was lucky enough to see one yesterday. Unfortunately, the mute swans seem to be much more aggressive and territorial, and therefore chase the trumpeters around. Hopefully there’s enough...
