We had been here 3 years ago, prior to the pandemic, and decided we wanted to go back and check it out. Last time here it was "Jeep Week" in April, and the distillery was part of a charitable scavenger hunt, so it was hopping! Today was more laid back, and also saw the addition of new spirits to include a port barrel aged rum, a sherry barrel aged rum, a whiskey barrel aged rum, a beer barrel aged rum, and a wine barrel aged rum, in addition to their standard offering of white rum and cane sugar based vodka. Tastings and a tour are free and include a very informative presentation on their spirits. Unfortunately, they were sold out of their port wine and sherry based rums, but the vodka was outstanding and a bottle followed us home. Rumour has it more of the sherry and port rums will be available in time for Halloween, we'll be checking back frequently. An expansion with a nice outdoor deck may be in the works, too. Cocktails are offered to enjoy onsite, and food trucks are also frequently offered. Call or check the website for availability. If you're here for Jeep Week, Copper Bottom is a charitable sponsor for these events, give them a visit, you'll be glad you did. Hey Jeep guys, there's a carwash next door to give your ride a quick wash on the way out, just bring your own quarters! Enjoy!
UPDATE: We just got back from a week in Daytona and a trip there is not complete for us without a stop by Copper Bottom. What a surprise this time! Jeremy had a new release for us of his Bottled in Bond, 100 proof, dark rum...it was OUTSTANDING! If you enjoy quality rum, this is the one! It's distilled onsite, and aged 6 years, with no added sugars, colors or flavors. Only 228 bottles were made and if you can get one, I would suggest you invest the $100, it's well worth it! Definitely a "sipping rum", it's a real pleasure to enjoy. (see photos at the end...
Read moreI visited 6/18/2025. As someone who truly appreciates rum and is very passionate of the craft and history of rum, I had the pleasure of going through a small personal tour and getting a deep insight of the beautifully crafted rum that Copper Bottom has to offer. I was offered tastings of their current rum selection, which are all excellent in their own right. The base aged rum is expertly crafted and an excellent base for Copper Bottoms' more intriguing and sophisticated rums. I highly recommend the Port Cask finished rum for Mixologist that want a complex rum with many layers, as it has been aged in bourbon barrels and finished in a Port wine barrel to complete with a fascinating finish. The super smooth Sherry finish example also goes through a similar process and I would highly recommend it for those with a more refined palate. I recommend it for sipping and would combine perfectly with your favorite cigar if you so choose. Not everyday am I schooled, but I have experienced my first ever Bonded Rum (very strict authentication process after learning about it). I must say it is the crown achievement and proof that the master distiller has worked hard to create this masterpiece. After tasting, I could not leave without purchasing this example of such an elegantly refined product. It was an absolute pleasure and I truly wish that those reading this review consider experiencing this delightful rum. Copper Bottom may be small, but its rum is absolutely on par with some of the best...
Read moreSurprisingly it's hard to find a distillery in the Daytona area. Thankfully we did find one that specializes in rum and they do have one vodka. So we did a flight and tried all their spirits. We started with the vodka which is pretty smooth but hey it's vodka nothing outstanding on that one. Where this place really stands out is their Rum. They have one lite (unaged) and 4 aged rums. They have a 2 year rum aged in bourbon barrels as their base. They then take that aged liquor and then finish it off for another 2 years in a beer barrel and a sherry barrel. All of these , including the vodka is at least 80 proof. The final rum is a 6-year 100 proof bonded rum. My favorite was the Sherry...
