My story. A horrible day experience: I searched high and low for months only to find the perfect engagement ring on Kay Jewelers. The ring said that it was available in a store about 50+ miles from my home and that it can be ready for pick up in 4hrs. I immediately placed the order thru affirm and couldnât want to get the ring for a surprise engagement. After check out I received a confirmation but it the confirmation was weird. It stated that the order would be sent out to the store located 50+ miles away from my home. I called the service rep at Kay Jewelers and informed them that I received an email confirmation stating that the ring I ordered was being sent out to the store when ut said it was in store so something must be wrong. The rep notified me that the ring might not be in the store and that mistakes like this happen and not to worry. If I had known that I wouldâve had the ring shipped to a store much closer. The rep also stated that I would receive an email confirmation once the ring arrived at the store. I waited several days before receiving the email that the ring was ready for pick up. I drove about an hour and 30min to Kay Jewelers at 2131 Holmdel Parcel 2131 ST. HWY. 35 STE. 101 Holmdel 07733. When I arrived I was greeted rather strangely but In a polite manner I notified the store clerk that I had a confirmation for a pick up. The clerk stated that I did not need any confirmation number only my name. I provided my name and the clerk verified that the ring did in fact get delivered the day of. When the clerk opened the box I noticed that it was the WRONG ringđ. I notified the sales rep that the ring was incorrect and she almost assumed there was a mistake on my part. I gave her the order number. She looked up the ring on her tablet and clearly seen that the ring I ordered and the ring that was sent was clearly wrong. The clerk then proceeded to walk over to another part of the store only to come back with the ring I initially ordered which was actually in stock. The rep stated that Kay Jewelers made a mistake because the ring was actually in stock and that Kay jewelers clearly sent the wrong ring to the her store from another location. The clerk stated that she could not just give me the ring I ordered because what is she suppose to do with the ring that was sent to her store. The clerk suggested I either take the ring I did not order that was sent to her store or apply for a store card to get the ring I initially ordered and mentioned the store credit card over and over which ultimately made me feel uncomfortable. I ultimately left without the ring I was approved for and purchased through affirm although the correct ring was in...
Read moreKay, has a great warranty program, that I recommend to friends, and this ring warranty has saved my wife and I quite a bit of money, since all repairs are covered. However if you have a Kay Warranty dont take your ring to this store, as all the repair work goes to Jared in Eatontown (other than a basic cleaning) so it adds somehow more than 2 weeks to the service window vs just taking it to Jared. Also they have more staff at the Eatontown Jared, so the checkin and checkout process is much faster. Same with watches etc, as I waited to check in my wife's ring, I watched the one person in the back at Kay trying to adjust a watch band for a customer, and lets just say it involved alot of tapping, and while she was willing and nice she did not seem to have either the tools or the training to do that with that watch band. So moral of the story is, if you need service go right to Jared, which is where it is all going to go anyway, and save the extra...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went to casually look at engagement rings. We were greeted by Ellen, who once I started asking questions not only made me feel stupid and I explained that "well I know nothing about diamonds, clarity, cuts, etc" and she was very unprofessional and only showed us emerald cut diamonds as an option for the rectangle ring I am going for, when I NOW know there are many more such as elongated cushion and radiant cuts, etc. She lost a HUGE sale with my boyfriend who has a budget for 15-20K on a ring. A few weeks later my boyfriend went back to see if they can take links out of his new watch and Ellen was snappy and again, unprofessional, so he left and went to a different jeweler. Ellen needs to be a lot more professional and kind to customers bc Kay in Holmdel is losing a lot of sales solely because of her know it all,...
