Jefferson Starship Live at Hawai‘i Theatre – A VIP Experience Beyond the Stars
This night had been planned for months—but for my family, it was a complete surprise. Somehow, I managed to keep it a secret until the very day, and let me tell you… it was worth every second of suspense.
We had the VIP1 package, and yes—it was pricey, but it included everything a lifelong fan could dream of, and more. We arrived early and got to be part of Jefferson Starship’s soundcheck, followed by a family photo shoot with the band. It was surreal. I even got to shake hands with each member and show them my vintage ticket stub from Nov. 13, 1982, when I first saw them in my hometown. The look on their faces? Priceless.
The VIP bundle was loaded with exclusive memorabilia: • Signed posters • A limited-edition enamel pin • A stylish tote bag • A VIP lanyard and backstage pass • Plus, the freedom to take photos and videos—a true fan’s dream
We were seated in the second row—close enough to feel every chord, every drumbeat, every lyric. But before Jefferson Starship took the stage, we were treated to Dominic, a local up-and-coming artist from Honolulu. His performance was a great surprise—smooth, soulful, and the perfect way to open the night.
Then came the main act—Jefferson Starship lit up the Hawai‘i Theatre. Their energy, connection with the crowd, and timeless music created a night that was nothing short of magical. Every note brought back memories and made new ones. And just when we thought it was over, the band came back out for an encore of two more songs, sending the entire crowd to their feet one last time.
The Hawai‘i Theatre Center itself was the perfect venue—historic, intimate, and acoustically amazing. Add to that the warm aloha spirit from staff and fellow fans, and you’ve got a concert experience that’s hard to top.
If you’re ever thinking of going VIP for a show—this is the way to do it.
An unforgettable night of music,...
Read moreThis was my first time at this venue, I was excited! It was for Nurse Johnn, a comedian. Show starts at 9:45p, email said doors open an hour prior. The entrance line wrapped around to Nuuanu Ave at 9:15p.
No backpacks, large bags, fluid containers and outside food allowed.
With 3 open entrances they scan your ticket and you walk in to a 5ft wide hallway with doors closed to the ground floor seating. To the right and left are the stairways to the upper balconies.
It’s a very small theater, cramped and I believe only one restroom for each sex with women having 5 stalls. The tiny bar is right outside the women’s restroom.
This night I felt was very unorganized. They opened the doors to the building, but not the doors to the theater and seats! Everyone was cramped in the hallways and on the stairs! I couldn’t tell the difference between the line for the toilet and people just waiting to enter the theater! The employees seemed nice, but were barely helpful. It was my first time, so I did not know how the seating went - double letters and then even and odd numbers! It was confusing!
*Try not to book seats at the very top, especially if you’re tall or have long legs. I’m 5’4, my friend is 5’2”, and could not keep my legs in front of me without hitting the seat backs in front of me! Very narrow rows, if someone needed to get in, you would need to stand up.
Leaving the theater, it was very slow going.
I’m not a sound engineer, but acoustics seemed adequate and pleasing.
The decor of the theater was pretty. Consider this building historical for being over a century old and not accommodating for this...
Read moreAs much of a review of the concert as of the theater too. The Jefferson starship show was a sham, David Freiberg is not a frontman for Jefferson Starship, the show was a poor rendition of if Mickey Thomas was leading the show. Oddly enough, there was no mention of Mickey Thomas, which was hugely disrepsectful. I had seen the band two years ago with Mickey, it was awesome. Outside the thearte, there were political pundits bashing trump and his administration, which was poor form. During the show, the lead woman, started making policitcal comments, trying to be neutral, but certainly wasnt. What she didnt realize is that the majority of Americans voted for Trump. Having a 82 year old man, be front man for this show , was poor choice, and while the woman has a bang up great voice, it was all reduced to zero, by her political comments and truely, nobody cares about your sexual orientation either. What an embarrassment from the WILLY K days when they performed in the islands. The band also apologized for the high price of the tickets. I would have apologized for bringing a copy cat to stage, with out the original cast. And also. the bands attempt to play part of the song, that is copyrighted by, Alvin Bishop, was also a cheap shot. the old timer did fine, esp for his age, but come on , Mickey Thomas rips, and it needs to be disclosed in the Advertisement of...
