Update: 08/03/2023 Mom and I come herein the mornings to this beautiful garden. We love walking from the kuakini street entrance and exiting at school street. There is the cooling greens, flowers and vegetation along side relaxing flowing water scape sounds. Mornings at 9 am mr. Wong is practicing taichi with the group, absorbing the zen energy of the forest. Alex is the curator and caretaker of the queens garden. He has been carefully collecting and displaying native Hawaiian plants for over 15 years. Thank you so much for displaying the names and information of the different native Hawaiian plants. Learning something new every day.—————————- Gate closes at 5pm but 1 night they forgot to lock it and had a chance to walk around. Love the QR codes to get info on Hawaii plants. Lush green grass with stream river rushing water sounds adjacent to walking path. So relaxing and a nice spot to keep in touch with nature. Praying mantis,, purple flowers,, mushrooms,, ferns,, green grass and so much more! Located between kuakini street and school street. Check out my photos!

This morning as I was cruising around I stopped to check out the garden park, there were no signs saying the park was closed or any other notice pertaining any closure. Me knowing "All Parks" are closed this one wasn't. Minutes after being there 2 HPD Officer pulls up due to someone reporting us being in the area 1 of them starts writing tickets, my Niece for not having her mask & I guess disobeying COVID19 Rules. & I for the same thing......... the other tells us right off the back, take pictures of the area cause there's no signs posted of the park being closed I looked at him and said Thank you Officer that will help me in court, he said most likely & stay safe. The other Cop kept writing the Ticket. I thought the other Cop was cool to tell us that.🤙

The little park is underrated. Despite it's location, it's very serene & quiet. You mostly hear the water & the birds. It's very small & like many have said, more like a park than a botanical garden. It's far less manicured than Foster or Wahiawa Botanical Garden. There is a lot of shade & picnic tables, with pretty views of the Nuuanu Stream. It's perfect for a picnic or photos in front of the waterfall. Minimal litter at the time we went. There were only 2 downsides. 1) the parking lot has more craters than the moon! 2) there were 2 homeless camps on either end of the far side of the stream, with laundry & tarps hanging. We didn't go over to that side & just let them have their space.

I would give this botanical garden 4 stars for its potential, but in its current state this is a 3. I wish it had more plants. As others have stated it’s more of an open space picnic park than a botanical garden and there is a lot of trash. The shade and the soothing sounds of rushing water are the highlights here, however, the presence of broken glass and trash quickly mar that experience. If a botanical garden is what you’re looking for- My suggestion is to visit Foster Botanical Garden across the freeway and supplement your visit with a visit here at the end. My hope is this park can be cleaned up and better fit the quality Queen Liliʻuokalani’s memory deserves.

Waterfalls in the city?? You won't believe you're in Honolulu! This is one of my fave go-tos for sanity(live nearby). Beautiful urban garden and a hidden gem. If you're visiting and love trees, check out this FREE botanical park. Esp if you're visiting Foster's bot garden (right across the highway), then you should def make a stop here. Free parking (!) Is on N. Kuakini street. Then it's a lovely path along a gorgeous stream into a glen with magnificent trees!! The rushing water and canopy of branches cleanses the soul. It's an urban garden but you can still commune with nature here.

Located a short walk from Kuakini Hospital, this is a nice little park to have a picnic or stretch your legs. Although it's in between a bunch of buildings, it's surprisingly quiet. We happened to go in the afternoon and the sprinklers were on in one of the areas. If not, it would also be a really nice place for the kids to run around. Just be aware that there are only a few parking spaces...but it shouldn't be too much of a problem as people don't linger for a long period of time. Also, the restrooms are all boarded up so there are no facilities to wash hands or use the restroom.
