Ok make now mistake these ladies know what is going on!! Takes a lot to impress me, being a Chef of close to 20 years. Liliha Bakery, you have my attention. I have not a single bad thing to say! Food-spot on, Bang. Service- be a long time since I've had such wonderful, pleasant, enjoyable service I can't remember. Cleanliness- It was spotless. Cleanest establishment I've been to in years!! Price point- I didn't care, I would have paid more just bc of the vide in this place is out of this world, priceless!! If you haven't been here you are missing out!! That's just the restaurant side. The bakery- how is this place not slammed all day everyday?? $5.50 for a dozen cookies?? Made from scratch? No place on this island can you get this good, this cheap! Stop trying, stop looking, come see these wonderful ladies at Liliha Bakery and do yourself a favor.i will NEVER go any other place. They have my money for Life!! I wanna say it was a privilege to eat here, dine here, and chat with wonderful people. The true spirit of Aloha lives here. I can't wait to give this place my money again. Bill was $47.00 for 2 of us, tip was $16. Yes it was that good. And I feel I should have tipped more. I've not have a more enjoyable outing in a long time. I will sing these ladies praises from the mountain top!! Outstanding job Aunties!!!!!👏

We dropped by this place because it has been consistently on the list of best Loco Mocos in Oahu. A portion of the place is the bakery, and the other side is the diner. They have a long counter for patrons and I believe there's a room with tables at the back for larger groups. Of course, we ordered their Loco Moco over fried rice. We sat at the counter and watched them make our Loco Mocos. They gave us some butter bread that was included with our order to start with. Lord, that unhealthy, buttery lump of bread was one of the best foods I've had during my Hawaiian trip. I kept on thinking of how I could get this from the mainland. Like how could I have not had this before in my life?! Anyway, back to our Loco Moco... we watched their main cook make our order. We saw him grill our patties to perfection. He then topped it with sunnyside-up eggs that he made sure didn't have some raw egg whites. You could tell that he cared about the quality of the food that he makes. (I hope they pay you well, sir!). The Loco Moco was indeed yummy. The pattie had enough amount of charring and the sauce was just the perfect consistency and saltiness. It paired very well with our fried rice. The portion of our meal was also huge! I wish that I could come back again and eat their butter bread.

So this is Christmas Eve and I decided to eat at the Original Liliha bakery for dinner specifically the oxtail stew with the Saimin noodles added. Thus it started out okay but as I dug into my bowl of oxtail stew I kept biting into star anise seeds and my mouth was overwhelmed with the flavor of star anise. I tried to avoid them but there was too much. So my mouth was tasting like I chewed anise gum. I feel like they should’ve wrapped and tied the anise and seasonings in cheese cloth so customers don’t have to eat or chew on the anise seeds. So at the end of my meal I informed the waitress about my bad experience and asked to tell the cook or manager she laughed at what I share with her. Then I go to the register to pay and another waitress rings me up with another waitress not serving me and they both laugh at what I’m sharing and my suggestion. Then I asked for the manager and they kept saying they was going call her. She only came out when I got louder. I told her 3 people had laughed at what I shared of my experience about the Star anise seeds and she didn’t say a word. The only person that apologized was the grill cook who had nothing to do with my meal which I appreciated but the ladies who were helping me did nothing for me like apologize. I didn’t want my money back which is $32 dollars with an iced tea. Oxtail isn’t cheap yet for these staff to devalue my Christmas Eve meal really pissed me off. The cooks need to put the star anise in cheese cloth. You get all the same flavors without the star anise overpowering the meal. I’m just pissed because the manager said nothing and looked at me like she didn’t care. I believe the staff aren’t evil as I might have depicted, but human kindness and decency should let you know not to laugh at a person voicing a reasonable complaint. Ny suggestion is that everyone avoid the Oxtail Soup at Liliha Bakery because they don’t remove the Star anise seeds and if you tell them about it they laugh at you if you complain. So NO FU*KING CLASS. I was being low key in the beginning but it seems the customer is only respected when they don’t voice complaints.

Food quality: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Value: 5/5 Don’t skip on: The Loco Moco Liliha Bakery was such a good find! The staff was so sweet and welcoming and it felt like home the moment I walked in. I was browsing around to find the best place for Loco Moco and the reviews don’t lie. This location specifically has diner seating and it’s all first come first serve. It feels like you stepped into a diner from the olden days and I loved it! We ordered the Loco Moco, and the grilled Mahi Mahi and grilled chicken. We were served the famous Liliha butter rolls with a red jelly and it was like biting into a buttery cloud. The food came out super fast and everything was seasoned so well. The Loco Moco came with white rice, gravy, and eggs - hands down one of most favorite meal ever. I was a little worried about the grilled Mahi Mahi and chicken being dry, but it was perfectly cooked and juicy! We grabbed a cream puff and poi donut to go and they were both delicious as well. Highly recommended and can’t wait to go back!

Liliha Bakery is a bit of a hidden gem... Literally. We almost couldn't find it. We arrived before Macy's opened and circled each floor of Macy's from the outside to no avail. Then, when we finally did find it, the wait was a little bit long. So, needless to say, when we were seated, I was not in a great mood. Thankfully, the food turned my frown upside down! The portions were generous, and everything we tried was delicious. The loco moco gravy was seriously on point, and the banana pancakes were exactly what I needed. The bakery itself is large and spacious, which was a nice surprise. Just a heads up – make sure you park in the right lot! We got turned around and ended up doing laps around Macy's before finally finding the entrance. Overall, Liliha Bakery is worth checking out if you're looking for a solid breakfast spot with classic Hawaiian comfort food. Just be prepared for a potential wait and a little bit of a scavenger hunt to find the place!

This well-established bakery off Nuuanu and Kuakini is one of the best places to get local Loco Moco. They have a food counter besides all of their wonderful baked goods. You can count on it being crowded around meal times. MAKE SURE YOU GET A NUMBER when you go into the bakery. They move very quickly and efficiently, but without a number you're going to be overlooked. You can't go wrong with any baked goods that you purchase. Their donuts are quite simply some of the best, the cupcakes are creative and delicious, and they make homemade shortbread cookies that are exceptional. One more thing, the little squares of chocolate cake they sell by the checkout are to die for! There just isn't anything negative to say about this landmark bakery, except how crowded it gets, as you can see in the pics. But aren't the best things in life worth waiting for?
