Decent little playground on one side, skate park on the other. The pool between the 2 is open to the public from 1-4 on weekdays with extended weekend hours. I gave 2 stars because the pool area is decent and is a very convenient option if you're wanting to swim in a waveless environment with little ones. It's perfect for teaching beginners to swim in calmer waters. We taught our 4 yr old daughter to swim here. However, the park itself is very unclean. I've found drug parafanilia near where my children play on the playground on more than one occasion and the skate park is overrun with disrespectful teens. My 9 yr old son has been learning tricks on his scooter so I brought him to an actual skate park to practice in an area that is meant for jumps and such. There were 10-12 teenage boys hanging out on the ramps. When my son politely said "hey bro, can I use one of these ramps to practice my jumps" they laughed and flipped him off. As he walked back toward me with his head down, they proceeded to yell at me, (an adult) to "get that little pssy btch outta here". We left to avoid confrontation. We did bring his scooter the next few times we visited the pool in Hope's he could just try another day. However, each time many of the same bullies were present. Therefore, we decided to avoid that area together. We have since stopped visiting the parks at this location. We use the keeomoku entrance to visit the pool and stear clear of the...
Read moreMy granddaughter's swim class is there and we did not have to pay for it. Although it's for a few weeks, it keeps her positive, healthy, and more able to sleep better & early being able to wake up in a good frame of mind. Her teacher who goes by Mr. goes over the understanding of the rules and what He is bringing to the table with the compliment of why. I just call Him Ku`mu. Great neighborhood families of which have been living there for 80+ years. The park is clean, spacious, you can practice up on your golfing ect. What I like about it is that the TheBus line is right there! Yes there's a parking lot but for me #4 TheBus is cheaper. I took a lot of pictures but only 5 can be placed on maps. MUST! Shower Before swimming and NO Running, the restroom is large and I found it clean. So let's just keep it up also! Outside cubby holes? I personally don't worry about our things in it 🤷. My favorite of the day is those buildings that have to been there since the start and the trees 🤦wow. Before I left I did what I needed to do, just in case it's taken away? I hugged the building to keep it in my heart forever. The structure of the building will last, lets hope it does Not go away. Why replaced things that are Still...
Read morePlayground for littles tucked away from the parking lot with uncovered benches to sit on and keep an eye on kiddos. Bring an umbrella.
Bathrooms are clean and well-kept, indoors inside the administration building.
Park picnic benches under trees are available. Dirt/overgrown grass underfoot, do not recommend going barefoot or in short pants. Bring LOTS of Lysol wipes or other cleaning products to wipe down seating and tables. The birds that live in these older trees above the benches are very well-fed.
Garbage cans nearby. Bring a fan to shoo away flies.
Plentiful free parking in the lower and upper lots. Minimal security. Lock your vehicle and ensure valuables are with you. Off of Ke'eamoku St., so lots of folks walk by, it's near a skate park, and a significant houseless population camps by the overpass. All peaceful folks from what I could see, but just be aware that parking lot security is very minimal, the parking lot is not visible from the larger park area, and this is a busy/heavily...
