Us locals used to call it the H.I.C Arena. The circus came to town, they were there. Not sure if anyone else remembers E. K. Fernandez. The 3 Stooges a few times they came there. My sister just mentioned her high school basketball games got played there like Farmington and McKinley. Lots of graduations, they used to have it at Thomas Square Park and it was transferred to Blaidell and that is The Dog Show. Expose unusual new gadgets. Concerts of many groups played there, Journey every year, even Steve Perry saw to it that our state was included for his last goodbye. Can't forget our favorite " Wrestling " and boxing too. My last concert there! Police, 3 men - genius. The best fun I remember was with my mother for She watched them only on the television and we had the Privilege of the Original Harlem Globe Trotters. Curly, Meadowlark, they were coming almost every year and even the 1st female on the team played here. Boy, do I feel Old! Mahalo, for allowing me to share my moments with You. If I missed anything do Your moments of this landmark on Google...
Read moreI went to see Hamilton. I searched for a ticket on Ticketmaster the day of & got it for only $37! The website charged around $18 service fee. Next time, I will try purchasing the ticket at the ticket window to see if there is a difference in price. I got Balcony, row R which I thought might be bad, but surprisingly all of the seats seemed great to me. No seats are angled too far off to the left or right where you don't get a good view. No obstructions blocking view. Security checked with wands and looked into backpacks & purses outside at the entrance. The one thing that almost confused me was, when I purchased the ticket on my phone, the website asked me to log into my email on a COMPUTER and confirm code, THEN i would be presented with the QR code to get into the event. There were plenty of staff to scan codes, so there was no long wait outside. Ushers were very helpful and kind. Alcohol & memorabilia could be purchased in the lobby. Very congested in those areas. Overall, the show was excellent & I will definitely return to see a different...
Read moreHoliday Craft Fair was the occasion. Wonderful assortment of foods and crafts to browse. Beautiful wood working (e.g. Koa picture frames), Hawaiian print quilts, unique thermal layered fabric pan carrier for potlucks (I bought 2). Lots of snack items (can't pass up chocolate haupia taffy, li hing and sugar coated mini donuts, island style spice/ herb mixes), although I was surprised to not see / missed furikake animal crackers. Blaisdell is a great venue - easy to get to, ample parking (cheaper on the street or nearby parking paid lots), event was well organized (quick ticket collection once the doors opened), space to comfortably walk around and see the booths despite the crowd. Would have enjoyed it more if a) I happened to park on the opposite end of the venue and had to walk around the building to get to the ticket booth/ couldn't purchase ahead of time, b) few people besides me wore masks for being...
