Blaisdell Concert Hall — Attraction in Honolulu

You can feel it deep down in your opu. This company not only has they kept their word about going online on their website but touched bases from purchasing though the day before the performance. Like a reminder or heads up. I liked how They were in my mailbox " we haven't forgotten you". Tickets arrived with details of the transaction and easy reading. It was a surprise for our granddaughter 6 yrs. Or was it a surprise for me? I grew up in the days of plantation and story telling was a treat and some of it 🤫! My parents worked and we got put to bed by Mama Chi the stories of the princess and the hero of lesser means that saved the princess. 1 of the performances I said out loud " I know this story " and the tears ran down my face. As for my granddaughter She was on the edge of the seat. She said " Nana they are on their toes " my response wasn't to the point. For She repeated it in a tone loudly! " ON their toes, no ballerina shoes but toes "! Then the young girl who was On her toes went into a split pose😖 Straight Up 😲 and my granddaughter freaks out🤯 and falls back into her seat. How they start to be on stage then into the story telling " screen " this child just couldn't believe it and the look on her face 😧😯😲😳... But! It took the story of the young man that got caught in the waves 🌊 and as he starts to go deeper into the ocean that has us hoping for a stingray to appear to left Him up to the surface holding on to each other and then a light 😯! And He starts to go towards the surface and out to the staircase and then She appears... a moment. My granddaughter yelled out " he found her" and fell into my lap and cried. My husband/Papa with a look I tapped his arm letting him know " she's fine ". Later that night he said " then why is it that You were crying "? For this troop allowed me to have - a moment. Of their life, and then my own but! It is still them that allows the inner self of a little girl to be able to feel . For the proof is right in front of her and it will last forever. She took it hard for her ears to hear " they are not able to go home" " they can come to ours ". All you will say is " they are always welcome ". Shen Yun Production burns deep in her opu and makes sure to it leave a key 🗝️ under the mat: Many Mahalo goes out to the staff of the concert hall for the respect they showed for the performers. After a 20-month closure from 2024-2025, and $10 million in renovations, you would think the sound system and stage lighting in the concert hall would have been beyond stellar. It was not. The spotlighting repeatedly missed the primary actors on stage. And while the cast of "TINA - The Tina Turner Musical" all did an amazing job -- the audio during dialogue was absolutely subpar and minimal at best. Even when 90% of the musical numbers were performed with full-force, the audio system in the venue was shallow and incapable of properly delivering a Broadway show of this caliber. No one could even hear the customary opening announcement clearly before the show started because the audio was so dismal. There are no P.A./audio announcements to remind attendees that the show was resuming after intermission, and staff presence was inadequate and minimal with barely any staff directing attendees before the show and during intermission. The concert hall is set to close again for additional 14 months in January 2027, and "maybe" there'll be improvements to the audio capabilities of the hall -- but for now it'll be a hard pass. I would not recommend spending money to attend a Broadway-style show at this venue it was that disappointing -- and even more disappointing to have to write...

The food and beer garden outside the concert hall served good quick bites. The ticket ushers we're able to scan our QR codes on our phone easily. The restrooms were clean. The foyer was crowded because they did not set up a line for the patrons who were purchasing merchandise. Great balcony seats stage left in the concert hall for the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra World Tour. Superb musicians and choral group all from Hawaii. I think there were many KH fans who had not been to the theatre and did not realize that the seating was even on stage right and odd on stage left. I'm glad they came out to have this awesome shared experience. The ushers we're very helpful however. The conductor did an awesome job. Synced up orchestra with the video projections of the KH characters was great. The composer also was there and she played the piano for the final score. What a treat.
