Awesome service with great beer & food! I've been here more than four times before the pandemic and I love this place! The food is so yummy and the service is awesome. We like trying all the beers that they have. Some are seasonal so the next time they might not have it. The atmosphere is a great one with beers and specials written on a large, wall chalkboard. Each time I went, each server that waited on us was so personable and friendly. Also, the outgoing manager walks around to interact with customers.
Since the pandemic, I haven't eaten in a restaurant. However, we finally were able to go do a pickup at Hana Koa. It was easy, online ordering! We got a few packs of beer and bought a growler filled with Coconut Cookie Porter, which is one of my faves. When we went to pick up, there was a little bit of wait since they fill the growler when you arrive, which ensures that the beer is very cold and fresh. We didn't get any food this time because we were going to a dinner. For sure the next time, I want their Mac and Cheese which is my #1 favorite out of all the Mac and Cheeses I've ever tried.
5/5/2021- Ordered online again for some different beers for Boys' Day. Picked up a four pack of Rooftop Pale Ale & the new release, Chewbocka. Also got my 40 oz. growler filled with Joyce Lightning. All the beers were delicious! I also got a keiki Mac & Cheese. Yum! It was just as I remembered it in all it's cheesy goodness! The hostess was really nice & so was the bartender. I wish I lived closer so I could pick up beer and Mac & Cheese more often!
6/18/2021- When I walked in today to pick up my online beer order, they were slammed! The tables were still spaced far apart and the customers who were waiting were practicing physical distancing with masks on. Got my growler filled with Joyce Lightning and picked up two 4-packs of Pina Hoplada Oated Coconut IPA and two 4-packs of Killin' Me Smalls, which is an imperial stout with marshmallow, cacao nib, teddy grahams, and donuts. It's a collab with Purve Donuts! Both beers are delicious as usual. I like the lighter Pina Hoplada as it's crisp, juicy, and easier for me to drink. It starts with a fresh pineapple flavor, hits the oat, and finishes with a strong toasted coconut taste. The Killin' Me Smalls has a strong chocolate and marshmallow taste. The consistency is thicker than I prefer but I still like the strong flavors. It's a good dessert drink. Love Hana Koa! It's always a treat!
12/30/2021 Had to order from Hana Koa before 2021 was up! Ordered online early in the morning of 12/30 for pickup at 12:30 that day. When I went to pickup, they were very crowded and busy at the hostess stand. With Covid cases being high and lots of customers either waiting to be seated or picking up, I checked in with the hostess, gave her my order number, and then proceeded to wait outside for my order. Tables are spaced far apart and they had a full house. I had ordered 1 16oz. 4 pack of Milk & Cookies, 1 16 oz. 4 pack of Sunny Showers, 1 16oz 4 pack of New Trail, and at 40oz growler fill of Rooftop. I waited about 15 min. and the hostess brought the beers out to me. Husband drank the majority of Sunny Showers and New Trail and I had the Milk & Cookies and Rooftop Pale Ale. They were all delicious as usual! I hope they bring back my faves: Joyce Lightning and Coconut Cookie Porter in 2022! Happy 2022 Hana Koa and keep up...

Read moreWe went there to have a late afternoon snack last week Friday and ordered some apps and tried their fried saimin. When it was served we could not believe the small portioning. It looked smaller than a ramen pack that you cook at home and the noodles looked overcooked and mushy. How is this dish called Fried Saimin? When we tried it it was disgusting because it was cold and mush with no taste. We pushed it aside. I think it was overcooked and sitting for a long time. $15.00 for this dish. $15!!! The portion was a quarter of the size of the bowl.
We also had the marlin dip which was good but it only had three pieces as the menu read. Not worth $13.00. At first glance, we thought did someone take a piece off because the plate looked empty with only three pieces and no garnishes, no thin bed of lettuce to make it presentable. Maybe add a fourth piece or serve the three pieces on a smaller plate. It just looked empty.
I spent $80 with three apps and two beer samplers. I have been here before a few times, but the saimin just discouraged me from coming back. I wanted to try their Thursday night special the jerk chicken, but like I said I am not going to spend my money on super small portions that might not even look or taste how it suppose to. They should have a chef or expeditor to check the quality of the food before it goes out. The wait staff and bartenders were excellent as usual, the restaurant is always very clean, spacious, and plenty of easy parking on property. Don’t be discouraged of...
