Appomattox Regional Library- Hopewell Branch — Attraction in Hopewell

The Hopewell library is newly built and very inviting building with a lot of glass. There are two areas with computers, that allow you to access the Internet for 60 minutes at a time. To sign on to the computers you use your library card number and password. If you have your own laptop computer or tablet you can sign on the libraries WIFI and sit at one of the many desk or comfortable padded chairs spread throughout the library. There is a cafe area where you can sit and eat your food while enjoying a daily newspaper, book or just your surroundings. You can fax($2.00 for cover sheet, then $1.00 for every sheet after that), print (in color($.30)and black & white($.10) scan(free)and make copies($.10)! Now in order to do most of these things you have to add money to your library card account before you can do anything. So make sure you ask a library employee first so they can explain all your options. The library has a very large section of children's books, dvd's and cd's that you can check out. The bathrooms are always very clean as well as the entire library. I consider the biggest asset in the library to be the employees and volunteers. These people always have a smile and willing to help you with whatever you want to do. I took my children there for the first time and it was beautiful and amazing the staff was wonderful and arts and craft was a blast...but... even though it is a blessing for most ppl who are in need, homeless people are able to go there for warmth. Yes, it is posted they are able to be there at 6pm but yet theey are there all day. And it's not a bad thing, the only bad thing is they go to the bathroom to do drugs and they are not affraid to show it which is the only reason why i know its going on. It isn't a safe place for your children...

I have been using this library for years. It has the best staff in the world! They are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They will stop whatever they are doing behind the desk to assist any patron. I even witnessed two staff members diffuse a heated, verbal altercation between two patrons, without having to get the police involved. The resources available and the quiet atmosphere make this an ideal place to get work, research, and studying done. All of the aforementioned (and more) make this one of the best libraries I...
