Hopewell City Park — Attraction in Hopewell

Nice place! If only people would clean up after themselves & their pets (someone left a present from their dog on the boardwalk) Also, Google says it's open 24hr, which is technically wrong. The sign at the park says it closes @ dusk. Of course, this did not discourage my late evening walk, which was quite pleasant, sans the doggie surprise. We stayed on the boardwalk & kepted our visit short. No one bothered us nor did anyone tell us 2 leave. It would be nice to visit late evening & not have to worry about that. Is there any local public parks or beaches that are opened...

It's a really nice park and is well maintained. The road getting in and out is terrible. A wide variety of people use the park...I cannot recommend going alone or visiting in the late afternoon. Loud music is problematic. I didn't and wouldn't walk the side trails. All that said, the boardwalk is really well done and city employees work hard to keep it nice. I wanted to like this park. From the photos, the boardwalk on the river looked beautiful. However, when I rolled up, the vibe of the park had a drug use feel. I left since I did not feel comfortable or safe. I wouldn’t recommend this place for families. Perhaps if you were with a group of friends you might feel more safe. I hope this place cleans up, or perhaps I came here on an off day. It’s a beautiful park and concept, but sadly my experience was not what matched the serenity...
