Last year, we went to see Marty Stuart. Much to my dismay, the lights were dimmed a little bit. And by little bit, I mean you could still see the audience. If you're lucky enough to get seats in the first few rows, light is not an issue. The event was ruined for me. I think it should be a little darker or just use the lights along the aisle.
However, if you're sitting in back rows, the lighting can really ruin any sense of intimacy (we want to see Marty, not the people in front of us), Maybe it's just me, but I will think twice before buying tickets for music events there.
I was about to buy myself a ticket to see Valerie June this Saturday, but then remembered the lighting issue.

They have three main visual arts galleries where local, national and international artists are hosted.They present several concert series in the theatre and at various outdoor venues as well.
While the public shows and performances are great, the center goes further with arts learning opportunities, my favorite being the atelier-quality drawing series that teaches artistic skill development without restriction to a single style.

Read moreI was there recently to see The Robert Cray Band, he killed it as usual. I have seen him down at the zoo a couple of times and maybe the zoo on a nice warm summer night is the way to see him, however the wooden benches there don’t like me! Hopkins Center was great, the stage lacks the ambiance of the zoo but the seats make up for that. There was a buzz all night but the Hopkins Center said that was a Cray amp that was buzzing so I’ll accept that and will look forward to the next show I see there.
