Yeah, these guys are unbelievably unprofessional. I walked in as some people were walking out on a Monday. Turns out they are closed on Mondays. I found that out after I was abruptly cut off when saying hello and told they were closed. I immediately started to say, “oh man! I’m sorry.” Before I could say I”m” some other worker, I assume, was telling me they have a sign on the door that says that, and while he got well within a comfortable distance from me he was telling me I need to leave. Look I get that your closed, just don’t be so rude, awkward, pushy, and simply weird, about it. I don’t care what’s in your shop. I won’t be coming back. Also clean up the signage on your door, or add a closed sign. Easy fix.
Response (just in case they edit or remove it as it appears they may have done in previous reviews):
“As you are aware we are closed on Mondays. Owner is high risk and employees are masked snd tested regularly So without your knowledge of these facts you need to leave asap. Maybe your insulted but it life and death for him. The Wife!”
Update (after reading “The Wife’s” response) :Thanks for clarifying. HOWEVER if it really is “life or death” is working in a very congested space with very little space to socially distance a good idea? I mean he is the owner. Right? What does he really have to do that so important that one of the many employees inside could likely also do. It is a retail resale space, managing incoming inventory, balancing the books, and working on staffing is the primary responsibility. After that pricing and negotiating sales is the secondary. Which is the role of a customer service associate. I will specify I have managed retail for over ten years. I haven’t worked in a space like that though so I am could be completely off base. BUT, IF HIS HEALTH AND SAFETY ARE A CONCERN…. then perhaps not putting himself at risk and working remotely would be in his best interest. You do you though. Regardless, there were no masks on ANY of the patrons inside of the building. So, your claim that everyone is masked is a blatant lie. If there was I could easily have taken that as a turn heel and left which I have done many times when I do not have a mask on me. That day I did though, as my kiddo was taking classes at stages down the block from you. If the social distancing was a concern, having employees get as close as the employee did to me is counter productive. I am not a risk, I have my vaccination and booster. I have already gotten Covid as well. Still though, I was uncomfortable with how close he was too me. The only reasonable explanation for that was to intimidate, which is completely unnecessary given the situation. There are many ways to manage an interaction like that and the way the staff managed my experience was unacceptable. Again I will reiterate, put a larger sign on the door stipulating the current status of operations. Super easy fix. Hell even a sidewalk sign if the door is unlocked due to staff having to use the front entrance as a transit space for operations outside of normal operating hours. The door is covered in signage which is all very small, cluttered, and disheveled. It is a very poor execution of the intended purpose of each posted sign. If there was a sign requiring masks be worn, that would make sense that anyone would miss it. Last thing, responding to negative reviews the way you do is unprofessional and tacky. It only validates the reviewer more. Try posting a alternative way to contact staff and invite the person in to discuss the experience. That way you can win the customer back and possibly change the review. I wish I could give you zero stars, because the fact that you have an operating business...
Read moreGot some Pokemon TCG cards for my daughter here, pricing was good. Most of the packs were fine, but several of the sleeved boosters were tampered with (glued shut, wrong set, missing cards, etc). Asked them if they could do anything, they re-directed me to Pokemon website and gave my daughter a few packs.
This resolution would have been fine, if they had been kind / cordial. However, the entire time one gentleman told me this situation wasn’t possible and it couldn’t have happened and it must have happened outside of the store. The entire interaction felt very very accusatory and negative. Truly made me feel very un-welcome.
I was frankly a bit shocked when I buy tampered with product, ask the store for help, and they refuse / make me feel in the wrong for even having an issue.
Update: Figured I would do a quick update based on owner's reply so readers can form their own opinion. I bought sleeved packs from this shop, took them home, and when my daughter opened one of the sleeved packs this morning she said "daddy my pack is already open and the cards look different", it was an opened sword and shield booster in an Obsidian flame sleeve. I started checking a few of the other wrappers, found dried glue, and we opened a few more packs and several were just missing the rare card entirely (replaced with common).
I do not believe that Ultimate Collectibles willfully tampered with the packs or knowingly sold tampered packs. This is likely a supply chain issue or similar. However, telling me it is impossible, it couldn't have happened, and being very accusatory / antagonistic about it is just not acceptable.
My biggest feedback is I am not concerned about $30 dollars of obsidian flame packs, I am concerned with how customers are treated. When someone walks in with a pack they bought the day before (that is obviously tampered with), their receipt, and asks for help... just be kind...

Never Assume
I was really looking forward to going to this store. I live in Nebraska and my daughter lives in Hopkins.
A few weeks ago I called them and whoever I got was nice and I figured out they were walking distance from my daughter home. That dude was cool. Hence, why you are only getting a two star review.
So I packed up my expensive collection and took it with me to show them and possibly sell some stuff.
I called them today to be polite and asked them if this afternoon or tomorrow would be a good time to bring some cards in. Whoever I got on the phone dropped the ball.
The response I got was that they were short staffed because of the show in Dallas and Tuesday would better. (I respect that, but I traveled 7 hours to get here.)
Then the guy asked me what I had.
I told him sports card. All sports.
He asked what years???
I told him mostly 80’s, 90’s, and early 2001.
He thought it was junk era…
His response was— (In a Snarky Tone)
“We are really only interested in cards pre 1980 or Rookie cards. So we are probably not interested.”
I responded—
“So you are not interested in a 5 inch high stack of Lebron James Rookie Cards!!!”
And I hung up.
Those 80’s cards he was not interested in were two Michael Jordan Rookie cards. Also, one of those 2001 cards they were not interested is a Michael Jordan 2001 refractor.—Not the Blue one. The Black. Literally #1 out of 50 made.
But…..They were not interested.
Ball dropped....
