Checking in at Houston’s viral mural walls ❤ Rainbow Wall address: 1435 Westheimer Road Pic 8 shows the full view—the storefront with the rainbow mural is already closed, but people were still taking photos when we arrived. The surrounding area looks like Pic 9, with lots of graffiti walls and small bars nearby. Though it’s close to downtown, the vibe is totally different. ❤ The "Houston" wing mural and other graffiti walls are clustered around 1503 Chartres Street. At first glance, it felt a bit desolate—just walls covered in graffiti—but it’s super photogenic! We struggled with selfies until a kind lady parked her car and offered to take group shots for us. So sweet! [Kisses] We brought a tripod selfie stick, so group photos were a breeze. Our Asian squat and handstand poses turned out great—love these shots! Decided to go last-minute, so outfits were casual. Tip: Solid-colored clothes actually pop more in photos. #Houston #StreetArt #Graffiti #TravelGram #InstaTravel #Murals #ExploreHouston #PhotoSpot #Wanderlust #TravelDiaries

Excellent gallery! I enjoyed the Cy Twombly Gallery very much. It’s a must see if you’re in Houston. There was no admission fee and the Menil Collection Museum is across the street. The Rothko Chapel is also near by. Twombly is best known for his large scale calligraphic paintings. Beautiful art, building and grounds! No pictures allowed inside gallery.

I was only impressed on how he managed to frame and mount those huge canvasses. I don't care if people will say I can not see the beauty of modern art, but if it looks like something a five year old can do... then everyone is an artist. Now I understand why you are not allowed to take photos.

I had an amazing conversation with one of the museum guards. She told me that the ceiling is made from canvas, allowing the artwork to interact differently with the conditions of the outside light. Talking with her about our individual perspectives, we gained a greater appreciation for what not Twombly’s pieces depicted but what they evoked in their mysterious childlike and chaotic strokes. I encourage others to go multiple times, alone and with friends, and sit with the pieces to understand the artwork on...

I normally wouldn’t complain about something that is free, but I’m leaving this review so other people don’t waste their time walking all the way over there from the Menil Collection. The art was essentialIy a bunch of scribbles on giant canvases. Definitely not worth the walk for me. I’m not trying to “trash this...gallery,” but I think everyone (art connoisseur or not) has a right to an opinion. In my humble opinion, it’s not worth seeing, which is probably why they don’t let you...

I always appreciated this space, and as some of the vulgar, immature people who were upset that their hard earned/appropriated money, was wasted, paying for the admission fee...

No.

There is no fee.

STFU and try and open your eyes; open your mind's eye, meditate... so you can open your perceptions, and free them from any and all preconceived notions.

The time is coming, where you must widen your gaze; Steele your...
