When it comes to breakfast food and chicken sandwiches, my expectations are always high. When it comes to introducing my friends and family to restaurants, my expectations are even higher. Waffle Bus truly excelled on all counts!
I knew there was a lot of hype around The Waffle Bus but I wanted to keep my hopes in check. As soon as I walked in, I felt the vibrant spirit of the restaurant and the people in it. Everyone was enjoying their food and it was hard not to stare at people’s plates, walking by their table.
The service was quick, easy and excellent! There are a couple of convenient screens to place an order and the menu is easy to navigate. The attendants were polite and efficient.
I was with 3 people and we ordered a lot of food. The food I actually ate was the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit, the Hot Chicken Sandwich, the Strawberries and Cream Waffle Sandwich and Vietnamese Caramel Latte.
The Honey Butter Biscuit was excellent. The biscuit was soft, buttery and flakey but didn’t fall apart as I devoured the sandwich. The chicken was tender and juicy. The egg and bacon complimented the chicken so well and the sauce and seasoning were immaculate.
The Hot Chicken Sandwich was also amazing. When it comes to chicken sandwiches, there are many pretenders but Waffle Bus is a contender. The chicken packed heat, the brioche bun was neat and the combo can’t be beat.
The Strawberries and Cream Waffle Sandwich was delightful. The strawberries were fresh and juicy. The caramel, whipped cream and powdered sugar all complimented the waffle perfectly.
The Vietnamese Caramel Latte put a different twist on Vietnamese coffee. While it wasn’t a traditional version of Vietnamese coffee or not one I am aware of, it still tasted very good.
As I was eating and coincidentally sitting near the entrance, the amount of people walking and commenting in amazement about how good the food on my table looked was astounding. It just goes to show how the hard work and hustle of this business owner and staff has paid off.
I would 100% recommend The Waffle Bus to anyone looking to satisfy that chicken and waffle craving, you...
Read moreFirst visit to this location. Parking lot is behind the restaurant. Even through the frosted glass the kitchen/storage looks messy and this should be considered as this the customers first impression.
As you approach the door, you pass by an area with large windows that seemed to be a prior coffee bar. A glance inside also shows that this area is messy and sloppy. This was my next impression.
Thankfully the inside of the business is clean and orderly.
Another restaurant using a iPad device to place your own order, each one had an employee standing behind it watching you order. They offered help if needed.
Before you apply your own payment, you select a tip amount. I don’t like this practice.
As you wait for your order, you get your own drink, dispense condiments, standard ketchup, syrup, utensils.
The wait time is reasonable, the employee calls your name and you pick up at the counter.
I ordered the Hot Mess Fries, I selected everything to be served on the side. Which was spicy mayo, siriacha and Mac and cheese. (I like this option to put everything on the side)
First food impression was a generous order of waffle fries and a small to moderate serving of cut up chicken pieces.
The Mac and Cheese lacked flavor or seasoning.
The chicken was good and the waffle fries need to be cooked past the soggy stage. The sauces had okay flavor, at least it was spicy.
The restaurant has too many signs, posted everywhere, it makes the place look cheap.
“No refund on ordering hot chicken” taped to counter.
“Don’t take syrup containers to your table”
“Don’t throw away the metal trays”
Review: Outside Impression 3/5 Inside impression 4/5 Order system 3/5 Food taste 3.5/5 Value for money 3.5/5 (can be more if chicken serving size increased).
Would I return back 3.5/5
If I’m in the area, I may stop buy, but to make an intentional visit is...

The Waffle Bus - Where Breakfast Meets Burger Bliss
If you're in Houston and you haven't hopped on The Waffle Bus, you're missing out on a culinary adventure that's as unique as its name sounds. I recently indulged in their cheesy delight, and let me tell you, it was like a foodie's dream come true.
First off, the waffle fries. Crispy, golden, and with just the right amount of seasoning, these fries could make a grown man weep with joy. They come with two dips - one that looked suspiciously like mustard (but was probably something far more gourmet), and a rich, velvety cheese sauce that could make a bishop kick a hole in a stained glass window. Dipping those fries into that cheese sauce? Pure bliss.
Now, onto the main event - the burger. This isn't your average Joe's burger; this is a masterpiece. Picture this: a juicy patty, perfectly cooked, with melted cheese cascading over it like a cheesy waterfall. But wait, there's more! They've topped it with creamy mac and cheese, because why settle for one kind of cheese when you can have a cheese party? The bun, oh the bun, was like a soft, warm hug for your mouth, holding everything together in a glorious, messy harmony.
The Waffle Bus isn't just serving food; it's serving an experience. Every bite was a reminder that sometimes, the best things in life are the ones that defy expectations. So, if you're in Houston, make sure to catch this bus. It's a ride you won't regret, unless you're lactose intolerant, in which case, proceed with caution.
Five stars for creativity, taste, and the sheer audacity to put mac and cheese on a burger. Bravo, The...
