My husband and I stopped by for lunch and to check put the facilities. My husband plays Pickleball.
We sat on the stage area, the view was spectacular. The food & service... not so much. To say the least, it was a memorable dining experience. We ordered the stacked brisket nachos at $18. The description cited cheddar and monterrey jack cheese, fire roasted tomatoes, jalapeños, fresh red Frescos, brisket, fajita chicken, queso, crema, and a butter garlic sauce. My husband had the margarita and I ordered a signature lotus beverage.
Shortly after, the server returned to state they were unable to make my beverage due to a missing ingredient. I opted for the mojito. Our server returned with the nachos, intended to be served as an appetizer, but no appetizer plates. She left. The plate looked bereft of the amazing display described on the menu. Colorful chips were stacked in a puddle of questions with brisket and fajita chicken in layers. It was topped with more queso some thinly sliced green onion and a green sauce. A sparse sprinkle of vegetable confetti was present in the queso, but no tomatoes, jalapeños, frescos, or crema were visible.
The server returned with my husband's margarita some time later when we were almost done. Stating my monitor would be out shortly. I inquired as to the missing components of the nachos and she appeared oblivious perplexed. She asked if we wanted it remade, I declined. We intended to eat lunch and we had almost finished this. She left, returning some time later with my mojito. While my husband was served his margarita in a cut glass highball, my mojito was served in a clear plastic cup akin to what a beer at a baseball game might be served in. I asked why and her response was that it was up to the bartender. She asked if we were ready to order as I took a sip of my mojito. It was horrible. I was done. We asked for the ticket.
The manager approached and I was so disappointed I couldn't complain properly. We asked for the ticket again. After about 10 minutes we got up to view the Pickleball courts and discuss where we were going for lunch. I had intended to order the chopped salad, it sounded glorious, but I didn't want to end up with a plate of lettuce and chicken with all exciting ingredients MIA.
We walked the very short distance to the Pickleball courts. The manager approached after about 10 minutes with our ticket. At that time I inquired about the sparsity of the nachos. His explanation was that all those ingredients listed were in the queso. So the sparse vegetable confetti in the queso warranted an entire paragraph? That's not how the description read.
The place itself was clean, classy and beautiful. The food, specifically the mojito left a bad taste.
We may play there in the future, but we'll be skipping the food and beverage services. I don't like...
Read moreex member, over 100 rounds played at this course. if you're just looking for a place to drink and hit some golf balls, ER9 is fine for that
Try and get the 7:30 tee time so you can play a normal paced round, but sometimes the party starts early. The course is AAA+ but expect really slow pace of play During the Weekends and Evenings
If you use your membership daily/semi daily , Some days you wont feel like dealing with the pro shop staff, but •you have to go inside the pro shop for a range ball ticket. •the starter will make you go in the pro shop to get a print out of the ticket (even though there’s a member app you can reserve tee times, you still need a tee time ticket)
I’m updating my review from 1 star to 2 stars after about 6 months of not renewing my membership. It's a reasonable value membership on paper (~$180/mo after taxes) for unlimited range balls + tee times.
Based on my experiences there, I’d think of east river 9 like a party course. The vibe of the staff is more similar to a bar than a golf course. i didn’t want to start my mornings off dealing with that type of dynamic anymore, so I ended my membership.
-If you’re looking for a place to drink and play casual golf, this is good
if you’re an adult / new to golf / looking for a golf membership to use daily or semi daily, do the single adult membership for a year, but plan to not renew. as someone looking for a family golf membership, I wouldn’t want to bring a kid...
Read moreFirst off was disappointed that we paid (or so we thought) for a deal on GolfNow for two to play for $53. There was some mixup between east river and GolfNow because the guy at the counter said it had happened earlier in the day. He did NOT honor the golfnow price. So now our round was $37/pp. I won’t judge the condition of the course since the weather has been so up and down lately and they’ve only been open for 3 months. My issue is paying $37/pp for an hour worth of golf on a par 3 course. Course was on the mats today (seemed dry to me). But nonetheless the mats on the tee box were wavy and wobbly. You had to put some effort to find a flat spot. But back to cost. To play 18 holes would be roughly $52 Monday thru Thursday before noon. Then we got a bite after. Food is not cheap. We ordered the Yard fries that is supposed to have brisket and bacon. You can see in the picture that it was crumbs of brisket. These fries were $18! Luckily I politely expressed my concern and the very nice bartender brought me some brisket from the kitchen. But this place seems to be pricing themselves out. There was hardly anyone there and I can see why. I play golf all over Houston from wildcat to golf club of Houston. For two people at east river we spent $74 on green fee, $12 on range balls and $125 on lunch and a few cocktails for two. Not including tip. Hopefully prices change but I doubt it. Was really excited for this to open. May be a while...
