Yesterday around 8pm I went to this location to pick up a few items cause I was just passing through. It took me a bit due to my disability issues. When I was ready to go and check about 9 pm the regular check out lines were closed. Then as I'm coming to the self check out area ( I strongly don't use anyways) I'm thinking that I won't be able to do this cause I'm using the shopping cart for support as well. I was about to just leave and not purchase anything after all. So I went ahead and approach the self check out stall next to the computer station where the employee was standing. I asked the young lady (employee) if she could help and scan the items for me because I'm disabled. I also told her that I was using the shopping cart for support. She replied with a smile and says yes I can. She proceeded to scan my items and in the same time helping the other customers. I had no problem with that and waited very patiently . The manager was standing in front about 8 to 10 feet just looking ( monitoring ) the young lady helping me. The manager jumped in and helped another customer and then the manager comes to where we are . She quickly tells the young lady that she can't be there scanning my whole basket. The manager says this in front of me while not knowing the situation. She never bothered to ask the young lady nor myself. I then tell the manager that I asked her ( the young lady employee) if she could help me cause of my situation. I tell the manager that I didn't expect for the regular check out lines to be closed. The manager stated that they only have 2 checkers. The manager then says that (I ) could've told her to open up a check out lane for me. I told her how am I supposed to know that just like how am I supposed to know that the lanes will be closed. When I first walked into the store the lanes were open. I told her not to argue with me and she replied I'm not I was talking to her (the employee)I said yeah but I asked her for help. That's when I asked to speak with the manager. She said I'm the manager . I then said then just jump in and help don't just be standing there if you see that help is needed. I asked to speak to another manager but she was the only one on duty. I asked her for her name and she flicked her badge name to me. I asked her to write it down as well ( her name is Indeo )the corporate office number (1800Kroger) that's exactly what she wrote. Of course she didn't give me the correct number to corporate office. I called the corporate office this morning and they took the whole report down. This is not how you should treat your customers especially when you're barely hanging in. Managers should never tell their employees not to help their customers in reasonable situations. A real manager jumps in and helps not just stands there. KROGER I'm not sorry that your not my grocery store. I'm sorry that I stopped there at all. KROGER y'all really can learn a lot from HEB. You'll always see Managers and supervisors working on the floor. They will be stocking/restocking/moving pallets/ and picking up trash. This I've seen myself because HEB is my grocery store... If I could give you zero stars I definitely...
Read moreIt's a lil janky i mean it's definitely not full scale Kroger. No pharmacy. Selection is minimal. It tends to get overcrowded in the evenings so if you are going to make a trip here I'd advise going in the morning. Any time after lunch and the place is packed. Not necessarily because there's so many people but because it's like 1/3 the size of most Kroger locations. But it's definitely good in a pinch especially since there really aren't any other grocery stores in this area. Selection can be spotty at times it really just depends on how well the stockers do their job i've been in there sometimes and i swear you can't find common items like Lay's Potato chips just because they haven't restocked the shelves. But the great thing about this Kroger is they always have specials and reduced priced items. In the meat section next to the dairy they always have manager specials on quality meats that are nearing their expiration date. I've seen items like a whole roast go for $3.99 or a 4 pack of burgers for $0.99 there's always something good. It's also great if you like eating healthy. Suffice is to say, the demographic doesn't always opt for the fresh fruits and veggies BUT that's the best part because if you go on Sundays you can always find literally half the fruit and veg isle marked down to as low as $0.79 for a bag of lettuce or pre-made salads since they obviously don't hold for as long as canned and boxed items. This is why i love shopping here I go early sunday morning and can stock up on 2 weeks worth of vegetables for like $10 it's the best. Not to mention they also have a 🔥 food counter with fresh chicken wings, sides, tamales, etc. The rotisserie chickens are always a little cheaper than at Kroger's in more affluent neighborhoods and they always have a bunch 6-piece mixed fried chicken for like $3 you can't beat it. And can't forget their bakery 🎂🍩 They always have fresh cakes, bread, donuts, muffins etc. For a smaller location, they do a great job at making sure they provide all the same essentials and amenities that the larger Kroger locations offer. Only downside to this location is the fact that there's no pharmacy. If you need prescriptions filled your gonna have to go to the Kroger over on West gray or Studemont and it's kind of a bummer cuz there's really not many pharmacies in the area either. Also, this location is the only location in Houston with different hours of operation. They used to be open at 6 am like the rest of them but randomly during the pandemic they changed their working hours to 7 am to 11pm so be aware of that if you like to do your...
Read moreSecurity guard embarrassed me today. I live close by to this Kroger. Convenience is the only reason we go here, and I say we go weekly. I was waiting after I got out of the gym ( we go to BE FIT) to go get some more protein shakes (we ran out of our online supply) and to get some Horizon milk for our son- maybe some croissants. I walked in probably right at 7, when I was asked to leave my backpack in the front. I was so confused- I thought he was kidding at first. Also, I don’t usually carry a purse, I carry a fanny pack or a backpack. So I’ve been in this store a multitude of times with a backpack. And although I only had some gym stuff like bands, my shaker cup, and minor stuff- it also carried my keys, my phone and my AirPods- my workout clothes had no pockets. The backpack itself is full leather and $350, but even if it was one of my $50 dollar backpacks- I’m not leaving my bag in the front. Some women carry purses bigger than some of my backpacks. Surely, you wouldn’t ask anyone to leave their purse in the front. I honestly don’t think it is even the security guards fault- if the store has a stupid policy like that. We already feel like this store doesn’t have a lot of the quality stuff we look for. This last time I went they didn’t have the milk we get for our son. So we also order a lot online because again convenience. But on top of that- I hate being humiliated like that in front of other people. The guard told me I could go quickly after the exchange. Honestly though I got really red and upset that I just left. I’ll just go get a danish/ horizon milk from Starbucks down the road and get a protein shake from smoothie king. Again, I don’t blame the security guard IF HE IS BEING ASKED TO UPHOLD SUCH AN...
