Serena Forest Apartments — Attraction in Houston

Beware they have bedbugs and roaches and will not rectify the issue!!!! I moved to the community when they were formerly called Northpointe. I’ve been dealing with the bedbug issue since I moved in. I’ve never dealt with anything like this in my entire life!!!! My son and I have bites all over our legs and arms and we’ve suffered a lot of emotional trauma as well as insomnia from this issue. I notified the office several times and they finally got Webb’s pest control to come in after 2months of dealing with the pest issue. Needless to say whatever they did was not effective because the issue still existed. I even had an outside pest control company come in and inspect my apartment and they recommended the heat treatment. Once I was given the quote, I notified the office and was told to send it to her so that it can be approved so I did. When I explained to the office manager that I haven’t paid rent all though I had it because I wasn’t staying there due to the issue, she told me to send her a statement in regards to that to avoid eviction so I did. She also told me that they approved the heat treatment and would be treating it soon, that never happened. A week after I submitted the statement I received an eviction notice. So I emailed the office manager and spoke with the account specialist. I explained my issue to them and was told if I just pay the rent then they’ll lift the eviction but it’s already been 4mnths and they haven’t even rectified the bedbug issue. According to state law once that’s reported it’s supposed to be resolved within two weeks because it’s a public health concern. Now I had been paying them up until June because again according to tenant law I have the right to withhold my rent if they fail to provide or maintain livable conditions for a resident to dwell in. To make a very long story short they never fixed the issue and when I went in to pay them I was told I had to pay a different amount than what was on the eviction documentation. So I was told to leave or pay them. So I decided to leave and the issue still did not get resolved. So if you’re looking for some where to stay I wouldn’t recommend this place but if you have no other choice and you just happen to luck up on apartment# 1612 then make sure they replace the carpet and perform a thorough pest control treatment. Or just don’t move to that one at all and by the way it’s like 6 people that are all crammed up in the one bedroom apartment next door and I know that’s illegal. And I will be suing this complex also because I couldn’t bring any of my furniture with me due to this issue.... so I’m starting over from scratch!!!...
