We built a pool last year and turf was the only option with two large dogs. The owner, Dan, gave us a great price, but that was the only thing Dan got right. Dan arrived about mid day to complete an 8 hour job and ran out of daylight.
During the installation Dan and his crew did not dig out the 3 inches like he told me he would, but instead put the crushed granite on top. I asked him about this, but Dan said not to worry it would settle.
Dan then ran out of weed barrier and attempted to lay the turf down without it. However, I again confronted him about this and ended up providing him with my own weed barrier.
Before installation I explained to Dan that a drain would be necessary for this install and he agreed. However, during the installation he refused to install the drain stating it was not needed. However, after a week or so it was evident a drain would need to be installed. * more about that later.
Dan then began adding infill, but wanted to do 50% biofill and 50% silica sand. I explained to him I did not want silica sand because everything I have read says it holds the urine smell from the dogs. Dan was adamant it would not cause an issue so I let him finish. Hey, I’m just a cop not turf installer.
After a few days I saw several areas where the turf was not nailed down properly. We also began having drainage issues, to include standing water. I called Dan and he came out to evaluate the issue. He did put more nails in the turf and attempted to grade the area better, but was unsuccessful in fixing the standing water; he actually made it worse.
I called Dan again about the standing water and he became very agitated and began cursing at me on the phone. Let’s just say the phone call did not end well. A few days later I installed the drain regraded the area around the drain and no more standing water issues. YES I HAD TO PULL UP HALF THE TURF TO DO THIS.
Here we are a year later and the standing water issues have not been a problem, but other problems have arised. We have areas that are settling not than other, which means I will likely have to pull it up and fill these areas in. This is caused by an improper base debt and to improper compaction.
The other big issue is the SILICA SAND. We are having issues with and odor and we wash the area ever time the dog uses it. Silica sand should never be used in an application where dogs will be utilizing the turf. I knew this, but let Dan, the lying man, talk me in to it.
I have since met with the manufacturer about this issue and they have informed me that there isn’t much I can do. We are going to try and add more biofill with the hopes this solves the problem. They advised me that if this does not then the only option is to replace the turf.
Dan is unprofessional and does a sloppy job. He cuts corners when he can, like using silica sand instead of biofill. If you want turf stay away from this guy and his crew.
And if all of that wasn’t enough bad news. I have recently found out Dan was using the business name Texas Turf Co. Illegally; thus commuting fraud. After speaking with the true owner of this company he explained Dan was a previous employee and did have access to this information. The owner fired Dan, for committing fraud and when he left he continued to use the company name to make sales. Dan used the name for over a year, committing multiple counts of fraud adding to nearly 100k; which he is still being investigated for now.
Once the owner shut that down Dan moved on to another victim, where he defrauded the owner of a landscaping company out of a lot of money. Dan then changed the name of his company again, but wasn’t paying his employees. Dan then changed the name to Texans Turf and let’s hope he is doing the right thing now as he awaits the fraud charges and the IRS!!

Read moreEDIT: Most companies try to blame a review as a competitor (or unknown customer) when they get called out - kind of sad. We haven't contacted this company after numerous attempts since we just bought a new house, as mentioned.
Disappointed they only offered to replace the turf for free when I wrote a review. We are slowly revamping the entire yard and I almost gave them another chance, but the combative responses to customers and silly accusation that we're a competitor confirms I won't. I will continue to share their lack of professionalism and "bogus" warranty with others. Five Star Rating pretty much means nothing when there are real, honest reviews. It's 2025, so hopefully they can work to realize exceptional service will always matter. Buyer beware - this company will not stand behind their warranty. The finished product looked great despite weeds still popping up a lot (annoying but we just pulled by hand as needed), but will not be using them for our new backyard.
Customer service is subpar - I was constantly having to follow up with my sales guy Lukas to even get a quote and install eta. Lukas was really knowledgeable and great in person, but follow up and organization for this company seems to be severely lacking.
The decision not to use them again (and will not recommend) was they do not back their product under warranty. We went back and forth multiple times about 1-2 squares of the turf being burned...and every time TT would pass it to the manufacturer. Eventually a rep at TT (maybe the owner?) just said it must be our problem with the window reflection. This is that Lukas - their sales person - checked the reflection from our windows and said melting would NOT be an issue since we had so much shade in our back yard.
I get that unexpected things happen and salespeople make mistakes, but I was requesting a solution and they just got to a point where they ghosted me. Clearly didn't care since they had my money. Needless to say, we will not support companies that won't actually stand behind...
Read moreWe just had Texans Turf install 630 sq ft of Master Turf as well as a 144 sq ft putting green in our backyard. I'll start by saying that the responsiveness of Dan to my initial inquiry was as fast as it gets. He contacted me to schedule a time to come out to look at my yard the same day I inquired about a quote, and was at my house the next day. He explained the entire process from start to finish and had samples ready for me to see the different kinds of turf they offered. Over the course of about a week, I sent him revised plans of how I envisioned the yard, and he was more than willing to adjust his quote to match what I wanted put in. They were able to squeeze me in between projects and once they were over to the house, they went full speed all day for two days straight. Raul and his team were meticulous in the installation, ESPECIALLY with the putting green. When installing the rough area around the putting green, they simply did not cut out one piece to line the area, they put the border down square by square (it looked like 5-6 inch squares at a time) to ensure it looked as seamless as possible. It probably took an hour and a half for them just to line the putting green. Try finding that kind of attention to detail anywhere else. There were no shortcuts taken, and Raul and his team made sure every detail was covered with me as the install went along. My wife and I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out, and if we ever decide to add more turf, we will look nowhere else. This was the first phase in our complete yard renovation, and I wish we had the flower beds to compliment the pictures, but even without the beds being in place, our backyard looks absolutely incredible thanks to everyone at...
