Fantastic tour!! I booked this mostly for my husband’s sake but we both thoroughly enjoyed it! Our tour involved only one other couple so we were small enough to all be able to fit in the rooms and look closely at items in the house. Our tour guide Ida Ellen was AMAZING!! She knew so much but was also very friendly and approachable. We asked lots of questions which she was able to answer, and it was fascinating to hear about the other types of tours done at the house.

The house itself has been home to several families but one main one, through an intriguing period of history - during the time home electricity became available, before indoor plumbing was normal, and when all work was still done manually albeit frequently with the help of specific tools.

Honestly I would do the tour again, and I’d be interested to do the other tours available sometime also. There were also some spots on the grounds we were able to explore before and after at our own pace. We were encouraged to take pictures or videos and there is a charming gift shop I recommend stopping by before leaving. There’s even a free little library with a unique feature on the corner of the lawn.

I do recommend buying tickets in advance even though you don’t need to. Someone came in the middle of our tour and wanted one, but they had to wait. There is also a self-guided tour option but only when they aren’t running the guided tours. Technically the self guided are free but they recommend a donation to keep their historical...

What a cool place to visit! Lots of history, if your into that, beautiful gardens to walk through. Octogon house has a rich and interesting family history that is a big part of how Hudson became a town. I love seeing old historic houses, and this one did not disappoint! Highly recommend the self guided tour. Staff is very...

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. A well preserved and captivating glimpse into the past, complete with period-inspired tours and interactive games. The grounds are immaculate. We're looking forward to the different seasonal offerings coming for fall, winter, and spring.
