Warning! Pictures may be graphic or sensitive! Despicable care here. Hubby came in by ambulance and the nurses Left my husband for hours bleeding in the hallway after he pretty much nearly severed his thumb off on a table saw. Sliced in straight down and in half through the bone! It was literally cut through bone! You can only imagine the pain!!! I had to actually leave after 3 hours of him waiting without no pain medication!!!! As you can imagine he was in excruciating pain. I had to go to the nearest gas station for ibuprofen. Luckily that helped and the orthopedic surgeon came down into the 5th hour or maybe even 6th of us waiting and got him prepped for emergency surgery and put him out and on pain medication during surgery. The emergency department nurses were horrible. No consideration to someone’s pain levels . No help to stop bleeding or clean the wound either. We are however so thankful to the surgeon who apologized for the lack of emergency services and was appalled that he waited so long without being cleaned or offered pain management but nonetheless this surgeon took care of my husband and he was satisfied after having his bones cleaned / derided and his thumb sewn back on! P.s we weren’t sure if the thumb would survive- the ortho said no promises since it was so long before detached and without blood and oxygen but luckily the thumb made it!!!!!!

So my daughter was admitted through the emergency room 7/26/22 not feeling well and needing an IV for dehydration. When I get to the room 1231 she was assigned to much to my surprise the cleanliness was liken to an experience in a 3rd World Country. Dirty floor with stains, holes in door and Sheet rock missing from walls… but the worst part Blood and dried bodily fluids on the walls behind the bed and side walls. I know that hospitals are over crowed I get it. But we are living in a Covid-19 World and just knowing there is dried mucus and blood on the walls would make you think that a Hospital and Sanitary Condition would be synonymous. I did asked to see the Charge Nurse on duty only to be told by her that they normally don’t clean walls and floors between patients which was a first for me. They did find finally send the cleaning crew in who said they should of moved her to a different room and that yes they do clean walls! The fact is they just placed her in a unclean room to save them time. See pics… If you want to stay healthy chose another place if you can. I saw another review where a patient had black mold in their ER room with pics to prove it!

Had a great experience with the ER through being admitted for several days. All staff I interacted with were caring and friendly. Food was great, hot and tasty, which I have found is a rarity in hospitals. I've been in the ER several times and admitted twice now, and I have never had a problem with staff or my care. They contact my doctor and specialist and keep them informed during my admittance. Even the ones who aren't in the Novant network. I have some food intolerances and preferences that they note (and remember, they looked back at my last admittance 2 years ago and looked at my food selections when they were unable to talk to me directly!) I've attached a picture of a standard low fat diet meal they provided me with along with the diet coke they had researched my last visit to see what my beverage selections were. I would have happily eaten this meal at a good restaurant.

I am writing this complaint to express my deep dissatisfaction and serious concerns regarding the care provided by Novant Health Hospital Huntersville. My father, who is 86 years old, was admitted to the Intermediate ICU step down unit on July 2, 2023. The nurses, CNAs, and medical team initially led by Dr. Heller was outstanding. Dr. Heller was extremely attentive and willing to go above and beyond to ensure no stone was left unturned to get to the root of his problem.

My father was admitted to the hospital on June 14, 2023 with pneumonia and severe COPD complications. The hospitalist at that time discharged him to a skilled nursing facility and did not realize that my father was not able to swallow, chew or close his lips properly, thus, food was going into his lungs instead of his stomach. Dr. Heller noticed something was off with my father's swallowing and ordered the appropriate assessments and that's when it was discovered that my father failed every area and had no ability to swallow, etc. Unfortunately, the level of care and the treatment we have experienced since then have been highly disappointing and concerning.

The first issue I would like to address is the sudden and unexplained room transfer my father endured this morning at 1:30 AM. Despite being previously informed that the medical surgical floors were ill-equipped to handle patients with complex medical complications, including my father's feeding tube, we were told that the room was needed for other purposes which was not true because no patient was in right after him. This abrupt transfer caused great confusion and distress to my father, as he woke up disoriented and unaware of his new location within the hospital. It is unacceptable that such a significant decision was made without providing any information or reassurance to the patient or notifying the family that such a change had been made to his level of care.

Moreover, the lack of communication and coordination among the hospital staff is alarming. When I attempted to contact a nurse by calling the main number, I was transferred to my father's assigned nurse who had no knowledge of his identity or the reasons for his room transfer. This demonstrates a severe lack of professionalism and proper information dissemination within the hospital's staff members. As a concerned family member, I expect clear and accurate communication about my father's condition and care.

Furthermore, I discovered that the monitoring of my father's heart, crucial due to his ongoing AFib condition, was not being adequately performed because the staff encountered difficulties in setting up the necessary monitor. This negligence puts my father's health and well-being at risk. Considering his severe COPD, which can cause dangerous drops in oxygen levels if not closely monitored, it is imperative that his medical needs are attended to with the utmost care and attention.

During my conversation with the attending physician and the case manager, neither of them mentioned the room transfer, indicating a significant breakdown in communication within the healthcare team. Additionally, it was brought to my attention that my father had not received visits from the speech therapist for several days which is documented in his medical chart, despite his need for assessment and treatment related to tongue weakness and swallowing difficulties. This oversight raises serious concerns about the overall competency and attention to detail provided by the hospital's staff.

These instances, along with numerous other concerns, have left me deeply troubled and disappointed with the level and quality of care provided by Novant Health Hospital Huntersville. The lack of accountability, communication, and professionalism exhibited by some of the hospital staff is simply unacceptable. It is disheartening to find no one readily available to address patient and family concerns promptly.

I sincerely hope that this complaint reaches the appropriate individuals in the hospital's...

The hospital is clean but looks could be deceiving these people aren’t as friendly as they come off I went to the labor and delivery department. It was the evening and night nurses. I was dizzy from pain and they had all of my information in the computer already and gave me a hard time to be checked in. I gave them my insurance again even though they admitted it’s in there computers. I knew then they are not smart people because they kept asking for it over again. Then they kept trying to get my social security number. Then I still got a self pay bill. They’re unprofessional. They will share your personal and private information that they have no right or permission to share. They broke Hippa law. They’re not suppose to share my personal information I share with them in private. They took up a lot of my time. I did not eat anything and was in pain. And they could not do their jobs. They used old material on me and old machines when they have new ones. I was already in pain they was rough with me and tormented me trying to find my baby heart beat with a cheap tool. They used a old outdated ultrasound machine that doesn’t work properly. Tortured me. They pushed hard in every sides of my belly. That’s what the doctor and midwife ordered the nurses to do the nurses said. The nurses begged them to use the new machines on me and when the midwife came in with the machine she said it wasn’t charged and didn’t have a back up. How unprofessional. They sent me down stairs twice to have my ultrasound redone. The ultrasound technician was so nice she made me feel better. The midwife and nurses didn’t put the right order in and kept sending me down there in pain to redo it. They took up a lot of my time. The doctor ordered blood work and they couldn’t draw blood because they didn’t know what they were doing. Said they couldn’t find a vein. I refused for them to touch me any longer and I wanted to go home. They told me that they wanted me to stay over night just for them to admit me to the hospital to make more money. It seems like it was all about money they did not care to properly help me or ease my pain. They hid my ultrasound results that I took several times and didn’t tell me what the radiology report says. They didn’t put it on my discharge papers either. They made me sign a form to leave because I did not want to be in there anymore. I was very uncomfortable they put me through more unnecessary pain. They did not care that I did not eat all day they just wanted to make money from me. Basically they wasted a lot of my time. I went in there to check on my baby and they couldn’t even tell me how my baby was doing. I left with no answers. They did not tell me if I had a urine infection or not either. They did not explain anything to me at all. The ultrasound technician was way more professional and more informative then the doctor which did not come to see me but one time to tell me she wants my blood work and that was it. I did not get her name and it is not on my paperwork. The nurses staff was nice but wasn’t much help to me. There was a lot of different ones and midwife Rochelle campelle who did not help me much at all and shared my private information that I spoke to her about that I did not give her permission to share. She should not go around doing that. And she should make sure her machines are charged. She seems like she did not even want to be there. She didn’t really care. The hospital was very clean and smelled good but that goes out the window when they do not know how to treat you and you go in there and leave with more pain and frustration that you came...

I wouldn't recommend this facility for surgery at all especially if you're not caucasian. This was my favorite hospital but after the amount of racism the hateful staff kid minded staff and a botched surgery nope. So first things Heather and Jeana are hateful childish and even after making a report still got mistreated jeana like high school not 1 person didn't know about her issue with me or the report luckily its recorded Heather's as well. But I go in to get surgery after the 1st attempt was all wrong and it was the worse not only did I not get the issue resolved the yanking me the snatching me the rude racial undertone but even after a plan in place Dorothy decided to ignore tapping me like an animal to get me up I was expected to leave in severe pain no meds so pain so bad I couldn't move barely so I asked what did they do they wanted me gone and then someone slipped it in that the reason of surgery is still there so why all the pain but when I refuse to jump up and leave without any answers Dorothy and the volunteer claire decided to call Security which not 1 but 3 Collins lagreca and kanaley which came in staring ready to harm me for what being the black woman deserving of answers and meds? I noticed not 1 caucasian patient was being awaken like I was and alot of those who were involved in my surgery coming going standing laughing looking at me so I kept asking what did yall do to me? Still no response so heres dr brown who also felt he had no reason to explain the botched surgery stating I knew why? Really cuz the only thing I knew was he was so confident and I went thru alot to get it done yet it didnt get done. So I ask him ccme talk to me while my insides feel llike being stabbed repeatedly and he refused so when did u get the fear or whatever because I didnt get any of it prior to surgery but still no answers. I stayed there until I could get my bearings to take the pain and leave with the lies certain meds etc was prescribed nope just a ploy to get the black woman out of the hospital. Ok now this is my 2nd surgery and I would bet a million this wouldn't have happened but boy was I wrong. So now I'afraid of drs more than ever and i may die from whatever was done. Theres other names involved but the worse part was the call so we get the call that says ask them what was said behind scenes and in the chart from professional to professional and you'll find out why they treated you like they did and why the rushed you out. So without saying whole story If you want to live and avoid dysfunction and chaos Dont come here especially if you're not caucasian. Sad this is a hospital where everyone from admissions to cafe know me always a great experience its certain ppl and hidden agendas make this the worse ever. Now if you do endure this place for surgery please ask for traci or hailey as your nurse and mr simeon theyre the best ever!!!! So is mrs pat and Mrs Jennifer they're the staff that take you back to surgery and they're Awesome as well. If novant cared theyd change and yes drs lie and so do other professionals under novant I can prove it just ask. I'd never contemplate atrium but after this traumatic experience a dog in the woods would be...
