This was the absolute worst theatre experience of my entire life. We got there about 15 minutes before the start time and had to wait in line just to have our tickets checked. We heard that there are no previews and the movie would begin promptly at the advertised start time. Therefore, I didn’t bother waiting in line for a popcorn that I simply needed to watch this movie. What do you know- the movie starts 7 minutes after the advertised start time. Apart from that, I have never been more uncomfortable in my entire life. The seats themselves would be pretty comfy- if there was more than 0 millimeters of empty space between your knees and the chair in front of you. This goes for the people behind you, as well, so you can forget about reclining. You can also forget about getting up and going to the bathroom or to get popcorn. If you do, you will distract the entire theatre as the whole of your row stands up to let you through. Also, what kind of utterly pathetic and absurdly fabricated gimmick is the “real 70mm IMAX experience?” I mean, the quality of the screen was literally worse than your local movie theatre screen. Yes, it’s big, but since you have to move your head 45 degrees up, down, left, and right to see what’s even going on, it is absolutely moronic. My neck will be sore for weeks. I can’t believe people are actually giving this place good reviews. The architect behind the build is an absolute imbecile. I will never go here again, even if the movie, popcorn, and beer were...
Read moreI attended tonight’s showing of Interstellar at the Indiana State Museum IMAX Theater, and while the quality of the film and the welcoming staff were definite highlights, my experience was unfortunately spoiled by disruptive behavior from a couple sitting near me. Despite several requests to quiet down, the couple continued to talk throughout the movie, which made it incredibly hard to immerse myself in the film. After asking them to stop, I reached out to the theater manager, who made two attempts to address the issue. Unfortunately, their efforts were ineffective, and the couple was not only rude to the manager but continued to chat loudly, completely disregarding the disruption they were causing.
What frustrated me most was that after the second attempt from a staff member to quiet the couple, the staff essentially gave up, and no further action was taken. The couple was allowed to continue talking, making the remainder of the movie nearly impossible to enjoy. Not only was it affecting me, but it was clear that the guests around the couple were also getting upset with their disruptive behavior.
I understand that handling these situations can be challenging, but when management fails to follow through on requests, it makes me hesitant to return to this theater in the future. If telling management doesn’t lead to a resolution or removal of disruptive patrons, I’m not sure I’ll be coming back for...
Read moreI recently watched Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I just had to see the 70MM rare version.
I will first start off by saying how nice it was that when you bought your ticket you also picked your own seat(s) out. Made it so much easier before the movie as no one was fighting over the seats.
This, I believe, is the largest screen in Indiana. Normally this theater plays more educational movies as it is at the state museum. But I do believe that the bigger movies that play here (clearly as they played Star Wars).
The concessions area is small. There is one window with one register. So for this movie it was not uncommon for people to stand in line for 15+ minutes. Now, because this is not the normal movie theater the prices are lower than what you might find at AMC or even the United Artist down the street.
The seats are very outdated. They're narrow and uncomfortable. The arm rests are thin and well don't even think about trying to share with your neighbor. Also, the way the cup holders are is there are 1 per 2 seats...so again, don't think about sharing.
The theater its self is clean and maintained well. Just needs some of the fancy updates that other theaters in the area have been seeing. I'd see another movie here again...if it was...
