Superb breakfast, possibly even better than our local favorite, First Watch.
Ordered a mimosa, orange juice, and coffee to drink. Coffee is self-serve, always including house blend and house decaf and a rotating third flavor, which today was Snickerdoodle - and it was quite good.
As for food, there are LOTS of gluten-free options, and lots of "standard" fare: omelettes, breakfast bowls, two-egg combos. This review isn't about all that. This review is about the Patachou brunch specialties, the stuff you can't get cheaper (or faster) at your nearest greasy spoon diner. The fancy stuff.
We ordered and shared three of the brunch specialties: the croissant pancake, Patawich, and umami and egg.
The croissant pancake is a must-have for anyone with the slightest sweet tooth! I've never had anything else quite like it. I'd rather have this again than ever eat another soggy Dutch Baby.
The Patawich is no slouch, either - despite it being "just" a sausage-egg-cheese sandwich, it is positively bursting with flavor and character. Solid 10.
Finally, the umami and egg was curious - for what it is (a light dish of seasoned fried rice and an egg), it's surprising how much flavor it has, but unless you're watching your weight it has less to recommend it than the rest of the menu. We're actually considering replicating this one at home, but I won't pay full price for it in the...
Read moreFood: My friend ordered Cuban dish and I order the one with fried egg and sausage with muffin. Both of our dishes were great. Although I didn't finish my sandwich but it was only because I ate before I came in. I tried my friend's plate and it was great. Not your usual American breakfast/brunch dish and it is worth to try.
*I took off another star because after brunch yesterday my stomach hurts the rest of the day and I just lay in bed all day til the next morning, can't have anything else afterwards
Drink: the lavender mimosa tastes decent. I would expect a purple drink but it was your regular color clear/champagne color drink with lavender smell. It was interesting to try
Service: the Asian/Chinese guy who served us was terrible. Our drink never came and I had to ask other servers twice to get it served. Clearly he forgot to put it in, yet he came out and saw the drink on our table and silently put it in the bill (I watched him), not saying a word or apologizing that he forgot. While he did check our table but the demeanor was so unfriendly and hostile. It made me wonder if it's because we are also Asians
I love the ambience and the restaurant setting in this area of downtown Indy. You can walk around the area after the meal as well.
Over all, it's worth to try this place but I hope u don't get this guy...

I Iove their commitment to sourcing local and often organic products even providing metal straws upon request. I was suprised that their syrup was generic.
I was greeted with a refreshingly personal yet professional service by employees.
Since opening in 1989, Café Patachou has garnered local, regional and national accolades, including having been named one of the "Top Ten Places for Breakfast in the Country" by Bon Appetit Magazine.
I started with a mimosa.
We got the mckenzie which was a 3 egg omelet with pork sausage, goat cheese, onion, and herbs. Absolutely delightful 😊.
The croissant French toast did not dissapoint. Covered in powdered sugar, pecans, warmed syrup, and fresh fruit this dish was delicious.
The patawich is a pork sausage patty topped off with Swiss cheese, pesto mayo, fried egg served on an english muffin.
I was disappointed with the breakfast potatoes. I expected more.. they were like everyone else's.. deep fried hard little squares of diced potatoes...
