The only reason we are going as high as two stars is the manager Mico and the server John.
We went there three times.
The first, the server was literally tapping her pen on her order pad and was sighing and rolling her eyes.
We wanted to order second drinks as our food was still no where in sight, though we were only one of possibly three sets of diners in the restaurant. She said she’d be right back and disappeared for 30 minutes.
Husband went to the bar to order drinks and we were told we were not allowed as we had a server, whom we were told went had gone on break.
10 minutes later the bar tender brought us two drinks on the house for waiting, which we thought was above and beyond and was appreciated.
When the food finally arrived 70 minutes after we ordered, it was very good.
So, we returned for supper that night, since it was close and tasty.
Had the best experience that night with John, our server. Probably one of the best servers we’ve had. In addition, the manager was very much in Evidence, and all went well. He was obviously a good manager as all the servers were seemingly in good spirits.
We came back the next day to a streak obviously (at one time) perfectly cooked but stone cold. Room temperature.
We said something and the chef sent us a message via the waiter- basically we are idiots that’s how rare steak is served. Stone cold? Yes, Stone cold. You can’t get a rare steak anything hotter than Stone cold. Ummmm… that’s a first. It’s not steak tartar…
Let’s put it this way, even though we were at that same hotel for over a week, we never went back rate that experience, especially when we saw the server was fuming mad -at us.
We went to the Westin to ten hands for all our meals after that. Our first meal at Ten Hands, we ordered a hanger steak, rare. We took our meal down the street back to the upper fooors of the JW. Even with the long wait for elevators, the leftover hanger steak was STILL warmer than what we were served “fresh” at High Velocity.
The moral of the story is, don’t go unless Mico and John are on duty.
Can’t say enough wonderful things about the both of them.
Our food was excellent and the proper temperature doneness and room temperature on their watch.. however the lack of consistency kept us away for the remaining 6 days...
Read moreWe arrived to a 30 min wait which we were ok with. They text us that our table was ready . When we got to the hostess stand she said we would have to wait for the other hostess to seat us. We stood there in the walk way waiting for another 10 mins. We finally got seated and then had to wait 20 mins to get our drink order which was 3 waters. When he finally brought our waters we placed our food order. We waited 40 mins for our food to finally arrive. We had 1 Caesar salad with chicken, 1 Chicken Cobb Salad, and Chicken tenders. The chicken on the Caesar salad and Cobb salad was so over cooked you couldn’t even hardly chew it. Im talking so dry and we paid $6 additional dollars to add chicken to each salad. We ran out of water and couldn’t get anyone to refill water. Then we sat another 20 minutes trying to get dessert and our bill. That’s what was crazy is we had to literally wave our hands in the air to get the attention of a bartender to ask for our check. We placed our dessert order to go and asked for the check. It took him 15 mins to bring the check but only a few mins to run our credit card and return a receipt but without the dessert. He said they would bring it out when ready. We had to wait another 20 mins for 1 cheesecake and 1 Italian cream cake. Price for the food was extremely high for what was delivered. All in all we were there for like 3hrs. Not because we were talking but because we were having to wait on everything. Would...
Read moreMy husband and I were visiting Indianapolis for a convention and stayed in a hotel adjacent to High Velocity. We walked over using the Skywalk from our hotel which was very convenient. High Velocity seated us quickly and our waiter, John, was one of the friendliest people I have ever met in the food service industry! He gave us food recommendations and was prompt with drink refills; but he also went above and beyond and found us a map of things to do in Indianapolis when we mentioned we were visiting from St. Louis. The food was excellent - worth the higher dollar amount. We shared an appetizer of pretzels with beer cheese. The pretzels were soft and fresh and the cheese had a good flavor. I had the salmon plate and subbed sweat potato fries for the rice. The salmon was some of the best salmon I've ever had; tender and flavorful. The asparagus was cooked perfectly - not overdone or mushy. The sweet potato fries were just the right flavor to go with the salmon. My husband had the chicken tenders plate with fries and he said the chicken was fresh and soft; not over-fried or rubbery. The atmosphere was pleasant, especially for a sports bar. It wasn't overly crowded or loud. There were TVs at booths that you could select your channel and volume, but there were also TVs on the walls and pillars to watch if you were placed at a table that didn't have its own TV. Overall, great experience and we...
