Lawrence Toups Jr. Memorial Park — Attraction in Iowa

Let me tell you about my last little adventure in Lawrence Toups Jr. Memorial park . But first let me say that i am a Metal Detectorist when i'm not being a Corrections Officer at a Local Prison and have been in Law Enforcement for the better part of the last decade . I only have a few hobbies that i can really get out and do that help destress me for a little while and I never leave a hole anywhere i detect and have permission to do so on many private properties in South West Louisiana and on Friday August 22 , 2025 I arrived at the park just to detect the tire shreds around some of the kids play equipment and had just set my coil down on top of a shield penny close to the surface and bent down to retrieve my prize when I hear a woman ( I call her Queen Karen ) yelling at me Sir, Sir (Scaring the Beejeeuss out of me )! We don't allow digging in this park and as I had no shovel to do so I wasn't to sure what exactly she was so upset about and as i stood up I see her and a young man with a kind face that you could tell didn't quite know why she was causing such a fuss approaching me quickly and as I turned to them she repeats herself loud enough to make me quite uncomfortable and more than a little embarrassed I then asked her if the City had changed any of ordinances pertaining to Metal detecting on public property And she repeated you can't dig in this park oh and by the way there are no such ordinances I've done my due diligence . and the park has sandy areas for kids to play and dig. So the reason I'm saying all is to let the City Of Iowa LA. and any concerned tax paying citizen know that i will not be taking my children to that park or spending any of my hard earned money in the City of Iowa LA. again until They get Queen Karen ruler of all public lands to find gainful employment somewhere else Perhaps an HOA president . Any way if you choose to take your children to this park Do not let the young ones disturb Queen Karen's lands or you like me will suffer her wrath to me its just...

It's probably one of the best park/ recreational parks I have seen or been to.. It has nearly everything here for a perfect day of outdoor activities. Baseball, soccer fields. Basketball and Tennis courts. Ping pong tables. It is a great place for all ages. I wish we had found this park earlier in the day for my son and to have better pictures. My pictures don't do justice. We were just passing thru. My bf is a truck driver, and we were waiting at the pilot truck stop up the road for a load. It has a police station right on the premises, so you can feel safe. If you're in the area, check it out. ...

Nice parking, okay bathrooms, nasty port-a-potty, awesome playground for younger kids, baseball field needed some work, NO CHALK LINES, SAME UMPIRES EVERY GAME AND THEY STAYED IN THE SAME POSITION, BIT RIGHT....THEY SHOULD HAVE CHANGE PLACES AFTER EACH GAME. WHY THE HELL COUKD YOU NIT HAVE ENOUGH OF THE FIID I THE CONCESSION STAND ON HAND......
