Market Basket — Local services in Iowa

This is in no way a knock against the guys and lovely ladies that work at Market Basket in Iowa. They are great people. They make you feel seen. Part of the community. Part of the Market Basket Community. The smell has improved tremendously. That would have sunk this poor thing to a 1 star for sure! We're simple people with simple needs. Moms grabbing groceries between baseball practice and church. Dads stopping in for the last minute items for dinner. What makes this particular Market Basket mediocre and possibly always hoplessly mediocre, is the lack of motivation to become more. To be more. To progress to something better for it's community. Moss Bluff is a great example of a small Market Basket that grew to something incredible and competitive in it's community. Kinder is another example of a store that grew and evolved to give its community a better experience. Iowa is older. Well established, yet, hasn't grown for it's community. No bakery. A full bakery with a daily menu might be great for family's on the go. The butcher's section has almost no contact with customers. A full deli would be appreciated. These investments in their customers might give them insight as to what the community wants and where it's going. Market Basket is a staple. That is accomplished. Other stores have done the same and became more than that. Even the outside needs a very serious makeover. There is country. There is quaint. And there is you can do better. As a community, we...

Worst place to go! I'd give no stars if I could! The produce at this place is almost always spoiled. They leave the fruit cups on display while moldy mushy. I've bought a couple items that have actually gone bad. I bought sweet tea and it tasted nasty and sure enough it was 2 weeks expired. The ground beef they do have is all brown looking and just disgusting. My husband has bought cheese and again tasted funny and sure enough its expired! Been here numerous times and always horrible! Better off going to SPRING MARKET because they have a lot of variety and a small amount of them so they can keep it fresh and you better off buying also at the dollar general they get truck loads often! But market basket has ridiculous prices and expired...

Been in Iowa for 50 years! Remember when it was George Theriots store still the same only Market Basket has it now! Need to be bigger, a deli they promise for God knows how many years! Part time worker in produce! Hard to get down isles when your handicap with all the corner displays in the iles. Lot of outdated food on shelves. Watch Price tags price different when you get to checkout. 2 stars for workers very nice ask if I found every thing I. needed ask if I need help to bring food to the car!
