La Rumba — Restaurant in Iowa

I went with my children and sister. It was a while before we were seated. The chips were burnt. Server was nice while in restaurant. We had been waiting 20 minutes after placing our order and omething came up, and we needed to leave, so I asked if the server could please make everything to go. Another 7 minutes and he brought the order out and we left. I should have checked the order before leaving, but had a rambunctious toddler on my hands. We live about 5 minutes from the restaurant. I got home and opened our order. The kid's orders were fine. I had ordered a grilled steak la rumba salad with queso instead of dressing. There was no queso. We had ordered a chicken tortilla soup. There was just broth without any chicken or anything in the broth, a side of pico, cheese and avacodos. There were no tortilla strips, just more overcooked chips. When I called the restaurant, I let them know what was missing, was told to hold on, a few minutes later, I told the same woman the same story. She then said, "Well that is why it is tortilla soup. It's just broth with some chicken but if you want chicken, you have to ask for extra chicken at an additional charge." To which I responded that we have ordered the soup regularly both in person and to go and have always had chicken and onions in it. She then asked, "Yeah, well what did your server look like." I said, "a tall gentIeman." Then I waited a few more minutes and then was told, "well your server is my assistant manager and he helped bag it up himself and said he made sure there were tortilla strips in there, so they are in there and he thought you would be using the quest at your table for the salad, so you didn't get one, but you weren't charged." That was the conclusion. No refund, no come back and get the missing items. I tipped 7.94 or 7.96 for a total of $70 and unfortunately I didn't grab my receipt from the table as I left to make sure I wasn't charged for the missing queso. Plenty of our other experiences have been great there, so maybe it was just an off day for them, but it was crappy and needed to be...

I do alot of work in the area, Many people have told me to steer clear of this place. I like to try things out for myself because everyone's taste buds are different. We'll let me just say this!! I will never set foot back in that place again, the wiater was pushy the entire time, the food was not at all good, I ask for more chips and was told that when I finish everything in that 1 basket they then will refill that basket. It was only crumble pieces in the bottom. I went in with my work crew and there was a variety of races in that crew. We were not treated like the Hispanic crew that came in behind us. They definitely cater to their own race, that was proven that day... I personally do not recommend this place to anyone. But to...

This place is AMAZING! 🤩 There was no wait, and we got seated immediately by an amazing waiter. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful with music playing. We were served chips and salsa and some soup as complementary dishes, and it was so good! Our waiter, Salvador, was amazing the entire time. He took our orders quickly, gave us sides he thought we would like, and refilled everything as soon as it was over. Salvador is such an awesome guy! He was funny, told us some stories, and was super kind! All the staff were kind, super amazing people. The food was INSANE! Extremely huge portions, served hot, and tasted amazing.
