I love The Velvet Edge! I've been following the owner, Rachel, to each salon she has been at since 2017. She's the sweetest person, an incredible hair stylist, and really takes pride in her work and now ownership of the salon. I truly trust anyone that has trained under her, and know that my hair is NEVER going to be a disaster when I walk out of the salon. I went to Jacie recently for a lived-in color service and she did a fantastic job with my hair! I went to a different salon once because it was closer to my house - I learned my lesson. I'll happily drive a few more minutes to pay for the quality and services that The Velvet Edge provides.
The customer experience is unmatched from beginning to end. I love that you can make an appointment online as needed, but their receptionist is genuinely nice and helpful if you need to call in. When you walk into the salon, you're greeted with a bright and airy atmosphere with tons of natural light. After being checked in, you'll be led to your stylist's station for your initial consultation. During their consultation they'll talk to you about your hair goals, assess what's obtainable during your appointment, and make sure you're both on the same page before they begin coloring or cutting your hair.
During the actual service, the stylists will chat with you, and as an introvert, I can honestly say everyone is so nice to talk with. Fun drinks and snacks are available which is a nice touch. If you're getting highlights, during your second shampoo they have a nice, dark, lather lounge where they treat you with a hot towel and a quick head massage. Once your color service is complete, they will take the time to style your hair and even give you some tips and tricks about products and styling that you can use at home. I’ve never been pressured to buy anything, but products are available at the salon if you need them. They really go the extra mile with client experience to make sure you’re comfortable and feel like you’re getting a luxury service. I highly recommend The Velvet Edge if you’re looking for a stylist in the...
Read moreI visited this Salon on September 4 For a curl cut.I should have took my first impressions and left.I arrived on time, took a minute to be greeted and 30 mins later I was in the chair. Because, The appointment before me ran over a little bit, which is fine, but it was an older woman, and the salon worker was “selling”her the product they carry.I was very transparent with the young lady that was cutting my hair and what I was looking for. I have all the messages.I am not the type to disparage a person or business. ( why I’m not using her name) But, I wore my hair curly from the time she did it and then last week I had got the flu so I was sick for a week.Didn’t do anything to my hair. I had a doctors appointment wash my hair Didn’t have the energy to do the whole Curl process, So I decided to try to wear a straight That’s when I noticed my hair was “choppy”.I paid $100 for a haircut, Spoke to the owner Rachel and she tried to make every excuse in the world. Instead of just admitting an error was made. We are all human and things happen. She told me I signed a three day contract. So instead of just trying to make it right and give me a Refund, Because I didn’t want to go in and let them try to fix it. I lost confidence in the salon, so that was not an option for me. Contacting my bank. At this point, it’s the principal.I will attach a picture of my hair curly ,straight and the result of the haircut I received at this salon. ✳️✳️✳️* In response to your comment of my review.1st lie I NEVER threatened you or your staff,or even spoke nasty to you.2nd lie is I never messaged GWEN saying I was happy with my “curl cut”or anything for that matter ! I have every message between her and I. 3rd lie is you didn’t try to remedy the issue. You keep making excuses and metaphors.🤦🏻♀️ YES,it was 3 weeks ! But was wearing my hair curly ,As i stated incase you didn’t comprehend it before.SO ,THEREFORE I didn’t see the choppy haircut! I pray you learn how to handle customers professionalism,I hope and your business...
Read moreI absolutely adore this salon! It is the cutest place ever and gives their clients princess treatment that all women deserve sometimes ;) I love getting a coffee when I come! It may sound odd but they make speciality coffees and always make them look amazing and decorative. The hair washing process is so relaxing with water sound and scalp massage with a hot towel. I truly look forward to my hair appointment each month because the salon is such a cute and happy place.
I personally see Jasmine! I saw Jasmine at the previous salon she worked at and was devastated when she stopped temporarily. The moment I saw she was back doing hair I booked with her (and even cancelled a hair appointment I had booked for a week later with someone else at a different salon. Personality wise Jasmine is a super sweet and silly girl. She is the type to laugh with her clients and engage in fun conversations. Stylist wise she is a perfectionist. She truly wants whatever is best for her clients hair. I have had long hair for most my life and yes I am one of those people that treat my hair like my baby. But I have always felt comfortable with Jasmine even to where some appointments I tell her just do what she thinks is best. I always get so many compliments on my hair specifically the blending. Jasmine both with cut and color makes a very natural blend where your hair has the effortless beauty that’s often hard to achieve. She also emphasizes the importance of hair care and integrity. I follow her Instagram for hair because she has so many helpful tips on there. Also in the chair she explains everything she’s doing while she does it so she knows you know what’s going on at all times. She also is very informative and knowledgeable.
I just moved to Charlotte and am still driving up to Columbia to see Jasmine because I trust her that I’ll always get the results...
