Small museum in Iron Mountain, MI. First part is about the local mining industry and displays an 1890s era Cornish Pumping Engine that was used for keeping the mines dry. There is a scale model that demonstrates how the system works, which was nice. Many of the rest of the displays were text-based in display cases around the outside of the room.
The second building had many smaller items used by the local mining industry - skips, engines, mining carts, tools, etc.
The third and final room revolved around WWII gliders, with one fully restored glider on display. Again, the majority of the information about the glider program is conveyed through text-based printouts on the outside of the room. Additional items on display include a few classic cars and many early-to-mid 1900s military uniforms.

Many military uniforms, a full sized glider and so much more. PLEASE ask the gentleman at the desk all the questions you want. He is a wealth of information about the museum and Iron Mountain. We walked away with more than we came in with. The gift store next doir has some great core samples for sale (and other items) for rock enthusiasts. A very affordable, educational and pleasant experience. We...

This one is almost completely original since so many parts were still locally available. The display is magnificent. Very well done! 🙌🏻
There are also six extremely rare, absolutely beautiful antique cars in this museum. 🙂 One of them being a convertible woody. Ford's wood factory was here. And also Kingsford charcoal which is a result of that factory but that's...
