AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
Walls were paper thin, pool was ice cold, no hot tub. My room#240 had a view directly into an open dumpster, no top, full of garbage.
I had booked three nights and was on the fence about a 4th night as my 21 year old daughter was along for the ride on a biz trip. We came in to the front desk around 11:30pm and TYLER B. The night clerk said they were fully booked, SOLD out. It would be impossible for me to stay another night in the same room. He said if I came back “tomorrow”, he may have a cancellation. I asked him if tomorrow was in 30 minutes, at midnight. He said, and I quote “no our hotel day starts at 3am”’ I was looking forward to three hours of sleep, but I wanted to let my daughter to sleep in till noon or later and not need to checkout and check back in while I was at a nearby conference. He said anytime between 3-6am, if they had an available room/ cancellation he could take care of us. We decided to stay up and watch arrested development on Netflix ( which happens to take place in Irvine and Newport! Long story short I walked down at 3am on the dot. Tyler b says can I help you? Yes, YOU suggested I come back at 3am to check on available rooms? - he said he was still closing out the day and not ready for me. I asked how much time he needed to help, would 15 more minutes suffice? He rolled his eyes and said, Do whatever you want! I waited patiently in the lobby for 15 MORE minutes. During that time I opened the Hilton ap and saw many available rooms in that hotel for the next night! I booked a room and got a reservation #. yep Tyler was lying to me, the entire time. I approached the desk and said great news, I was able to book a room on your ap can you please check me in now? Nope… come back tomorrow! TYler B was rude, condescending to me, raised his voice to an uncomfortable level and talked over me. I FELT unsafe. He had my personal information, my credit cards, drivers license. Access to my room and knew my daughter would be sleeping in for hours alone. I filmed him and asked for the number of the Irvine police. HE THEN YELLED, repeatedly ARE you on drugs? He lost it, I called the cops he filled me, and followed me around the lobby. He said he was head of security and when the cops show up they will be escorting my daughter and I OUT of the hotel and canceling my reservation! I waited in my room for them to arrive. The cops were awesome, heard my side of the story, and walked back down to the lobby. I simply wanted to know, how to keep the same room! TYLER had 45 minutes to calm down and played it cool, but still no help. thank god he was gone and the lovely woman at the desk helped me around 6:15am.
I only slept for two hours last night thanks to TYLER, but I’m proud to stand up and speak about this horrible experience. Stay away from the Hilton garden inn in Irvine, clearly they don’t interview, screen, and train the employees in courtesy and service. This guy is in the wrong industry! Read moreExtremely disgusted and disappointed with this particular Hilton franchise property. We accidentally left a very expensive medication that needed to be refrigerated in the hotel refrigerator after an overnight stay for our daughter's wedding. When we realized that it was left behind - only a few hours later - , my husband went back to find and retrieve the needed medication. The stainless steel storage container from the refrigeration that contained the medication was EMPTIED and the medication was thrown into the garbage! A hotel employee took the bright red stainless steel container with the cooling packet in it and put it in their vehicle while THROWING away the labeled diabetes medication. No one at the hotel even cared when we explained the situation. The general manager was extremely rude when we asked about their policy on items left behind - especially medication. We were told that part of this location's practice was to throw out anything that was left behind. From my perspective, the hotel is accepting theft from one of their employees since the employee did not turn in the item and took it to their personal vehicle. The wedding had booked at least a block of 10 rooms for their guests at this hotel. There were two rooms that the air conditioning did not work and the rooms too hot for a decent night of sleep. That led to two couples losing a good night of sleep for their childrens' wedding.. If you can book elsewhere, I'd highly recommend doing so. If I could give it a lower star value, I would after this incident. Hilton needs to have a better policy on what to do if a medication is accidentally left behind. If you can select another hotel in the area, I'd...
