Lived in the Phase II classics buildings completed in 1989. One of the toilets on our floor would not flush completely on first press. Didn’t help that some people were complete morons and never checked to see if they had done it correctly. Also when people would slam doors it would rattle our room and make it hard to fall asleep. One of the hooks to hang your towel on by the shower was too stubby to actually hold anything there. Your experience is what you make of it, but I feel as if the buildings didn’t exactly facilitate social interaction. The kitchen is shared between two adjoining dorms but because it has it’s own separate room on the ground floor it’s more of a hassle to cook than the Mesa Court Classics, which connects the two wings of the building with a kitchen/communal area. Our dorm was one of the few with a ping pong table however, and I never had to walk too far to get to my...
Read moreIf you get the dorms built in the 1970s instead of the new dorms built a few years ago, you still have to pay the same price as everyone else. I cannot believe this place is rated 4.1 stars. The walls and ceiling were falling apart and the blinds on the window were falling off and broken. My window was facing a sidewalk, so anyone walking past could see into my dorm. There is no privacy. When I was laying down on my bed, I could reach across the room and touch my roomate, that’s how small the rooms were. It should be illegal to house anyone like this. Just because we’re students doesn’t mean we should put up with homeless...
Read moreMiddle Earth was pretty cool, provided me a bed, bath, and 2 awesome roommates. But I was in an older building and the space they gave us for a triple bedroom was incredibly small. The workspaces were a great place to study and the towers offer some nice places to sit and study. Either by yourself or with others. RAs made the place feel safe and homey, they really created a community...
