Blaze Pizza — Restaurant in Irvine

Normally I love this place and would rate it higher, but a recent experience has me a bit perplexed. They make great pizzas here and I love the variation in toppings offered and the way they cook the pizzas.

I usually go place my order in person, but recently I put in an online order for pickup. My pizza was supposed to have several toppings on it, but somehow I ended up with a plain cheese pizza. The receipt on the box showed my name with the correct order I placed, so I didn't think to check it. I got all the way home, ready to dig in, only to find a plain cheese pizza. I immediately called to let them know and they said they would remake it and I can bring the cheese one back. So back I go.

It wasn't quite ready when I arrived so I waited a few minutes for them to finish it up. They were apologetic and provided the right order the second time around, but I was surprised they didn't offer anything for my trouble. No drink while I waited, no coupon for a future order, nothing. Maybe if I were more upset they would have done more, idk. I had calmly approached the situation politely, despite my frustration. No sense making the situation any worse, though it makes me wonder if I would have received better customer service if I expressed more frustration.

After all it's pretty frustrating to receive the very obviously wrong pizza when they had the proper order in print. That said, if you place an order online, be sure to check the pizza...

On friday night, I ordered a peperoni pizza. When it was ready, I asked the guy who was delivering the pizza to the customers for ranch. He, without question, and with a very disturbing look on his face, squirted my entire pizza with ranch. I told him that I wanted the ranch on the side and that he didn't even ask me if I wanted my entire pizza squirted with ranch. He huffed and puffed about it and slammed a side of the ranch on the side. I told him it's unacceptable and that I want my pizza remade. He was obviously really angry about it.

When I was waiting for my pizza to be remade, I asked the girl near the cash register for the manager. Turns out that he was the manager. By this time, he walked over and stared at me with the angriest face as if I was doing something wrong. I tried to tell him that I understood it was a busy night, and they probably didn't want to hear any complaints but it was uncalled for what he did. He didn't even care to hear what I had to say. He just cut me off, then lied. He said he offered me rancher and thought I wanted it squirted on my pizza. And that it was miscommunication and that he is already making my pizza. That was a complete lie. That's not what happened,I can't even begin to describe how unwelcoming this guys facial expression was. I like Blaze, but this location has a really rude male employee. After finishing ordering my pizza, while I was waiting, this guy told me to move further away, which I didn’t have any problem with as I figured I might have unconsciously in the way of people who came in to pick up their pizzas. I complied and moved away to one of their tables. I didn’t hear him call my name, but I saw that he was putting a pizza in a box and there was no one else waiting so I figured that must have been mine. I came up to the station. He handled me the box. I asked if I could have arugula on top. He looked visibly annoyed and told me I should have told him when he called my name. I was appalled by his attitude. I told him I didn’t hear he called my name. I haven’t experienced such terrible customer service in a while. I then asked for some red pepper. He told me they were in the corner next to the drinks. I went there to check and there was none. I came back and told him there was none. He insisted they were there. I went back to check twice and I still couldn’t find any so I let him know. He then looked visibly upset. He went there to check and he couldn’t find anything there either so he went into the back to grab some and put them there.
